Interview Julie Howard Author of Spirited Quest
Give a warm welcome to Julie Howard, Author of Spirited Quest a Deerbourne Inn Series tale. Pull up a chair, grab a drink of your choice from the cooler, a Chocolate Chip or Peanut Butter cookie from the plate, and let’s find out a little about Julie and her Spirited Quest!
What inspired this particular story?
I’d love to say this character haunted me until I wrote her story… and this is sort of what happened. A lot of writers can relate to how a character grabs hold of them (metaphorically, of course) and demands to be written into existence. That’s how it happened with the ghost in Spirited Quest. I just knew I had to create her and breathe life into her. Once I started writing, her story spilled out so easily that I felt I was writing a true story.
Why did you choose the cover concept you did?
There are three main women in my story – Paige; her niece, Jillian; and the Lady of the Deerbourne. Each of these women have different motivations and goals through the story and this was a lot to tackle in a short book. The cover, though, gets to the heart of Spirited Quest. Jillian is a ghost-hunter and she seeks the Lady of the Deerbourne. Everything that happens in this mystery comes back to the relationship these two women establish across time. They needed to be on the cover.
What inspired you to write?
Ah, there’s nothing like a good book. I’ve always been a reader and early on, I knew I wanted to create stories too. To me, writing books was the most wonderful thing anyone could do. I’m overwhelmed with gratitude that I can spend my time writing books. This is my dream job.
What do you like to do when you are not writing?
I love to travel and explore. I’m fascinated by other cultures, religions, languages, foods, etc. I have a long list of places I’d like to visit and I’m always adding more!
Tell us three things we’d find if we looked under your heroine’s bed?
Three things? She’s too much of a neatnik. But she doesn’t know an earring rolled under there two weeks ago…
How about the hero’s bed?
Dust bunnies, an old credit card statement, and a couple pair of shoes.

A little about Spirited Quest:
Paige Norman believes in a tangible, explainable world. When her ghost-hunting niece comes for a visit, she tries not to scoff. But someone, or something, is stirring up trouble at the Deerbourne Inn and her niece, Jillian, is at the center of the mystery.
Paige is certain the handsome Aussie photographer is behind the unexplained disturbances, and she warns her niece to stay clear. Meanwhile, Jillian gets to know the otherworldly Lady of the Deerbourne, who foretells an encounter with “two men.” Then the pranks turn dangerous. Has her niece attracted a stalker or has she conjured an evil presence? Can the culprit be the man who has captured her heart?
A sneak peek between the pages of Spirited Quest!
He nodded a friendly greeting to her, his gaze grazing past to include others on the porch. “G’day, ma’am. G’day all.”
An Australian. Her heart skipped a beat. Oh, to be twenty-five, even thirty-five, again. His gaze settled on her niece, and as always happened to men where this girl was concerned, his jaw slackened, then tightened.
Next to her, Jillian grew still, lifting wide blue eyes to the newcomer. The moment passed. He was through the front door and into the lobby, and the door closed behind him.
“You’re in for some nice company this week,” Paige commented with a smile.
A frown flickered across her niece’s face. “I’ve seen him before.”
“You’ve met?”
“Not exactly. He appeared to me in a dream.” Jillian’s blue eyes were troubled as she gazed at the Inn’s front door. She lifted one hand and rubbed the back of her head, then gave a shiver. “There was blood and I was afraid.”

Interview Charlene Namdhari Author of Daredevil’s Mistress
Give a warm welcome to Charlene Namdhari, author of Daredevil’s Mistress. Pull up a chair, grab a drink of your choice from the cooler, a Chocolate Chip or Peanut Butter cookie from the plate, and let’s find out a little about Charlene and Daredevil’s Mistress.
What inspired this particular story? What makes you laugh out loud?
I think like most authors, inspiration for our books comes from some aspect of our lives or experiences we may have had as we grew. The inspiration for Daredevil’s Mistress stems from a facet of my life when living and loving was dictated by family norms. I was raised in a household where respect was important and you didn’t go against the wishes of the elders.
Why should we read this book/series and what sets you apart from the rest and makes your book/series unique?
I still can’t believe I’m an author. It’s an exciting moment when you’re given the release date of your book more so the signing of your contract. Whether it is the right decision or not will come later when readers have had a chance to read my book. But, I’m glad I did it. Every new author would like to believe they’ve written a good story and only a reader can be the judge of that. All I ask is for a moment of your time to show you I can be a writer. Some may enjoy it and some may not. I would really appreciate your feedback.
Who would you recommend this book to and what should readers be aware of before reading it?
Anyone that enjoys a good romance with family drama. Cody is an alpha male. He’s arrogant, downright rude and sexy as hell. I love my men with a bit of arrogance especially when they’re confronted by the tenacity of a feisty woman who throws them completely off balance. Then they’re unsure how to handle said woman who gives as good as she gets. Both in love and war. He may come across as too arrogant but he has his reasons and if you give him a chance he’ll show you just how ardent he can love too.
Where do your story ideas come from?
If they come to you in the middle of the night, do you get up and write them all down? I could be reading a book, watching a movie, driving to work or observing a scene at the mall and an idea will pop into my head. There are times when it comes to me when I’m just about to sleep and I get up write it all down, if I don’t, I lose the thread and silly me forgets.
What do you like to do when you are not writing?
I work full time as an events manager, so when I’m not writing, I have to use the other creative part of my brain to come up with ideas for functions which I love doing as well
Any tips to share with fellow authors/aspiring authors? What’s the best advice you’ve ever heard?
My biggest lesson. Don’t procrastinate. This story was written a long time ago and I only worked up the courage to seek publishing recently. Had I done this sooner, I would’ve had more stories published now. Then again, they say everything happens for a reason, right. My advice to aspiring authors. Believe in yourself, write that story and submit it. Every one has a story to tell some more than others but you’ll never know unless you try.

Tell us a little about Daredevil’s Mistress.
Twenty-four-year-old virgin Samantha Harman longs to escape her boring life and overbearing father in South Africa. She gains temporary freedom when she visits a friend’s ranch in Arizona. Her father’s price for letting her go? Return to an arranged marriage. But an unexpected attraction to a sexy cowboy is hard to fight and soon she’s in bed with the devil.
Cody Bentley, a hardworking no-nonsense rancher, has been hurt before. To him, women are wanton troublemakers out for gold. Then his sister’s feisty friend comes for a visit and ensnares him in a white-hot passion that threatens to melt the icy wall around his heart.
Will Samantha dare to defy her father’s demands and convince Cody to take a chance on love?
A sneak peek between the pages of Daredevil’s Mistress!
Deborah cruised up to the house and parked outside the entrance. The ranch buzzed with activity. Despite the dust, noise, and utter confusion, Samantha stared enthralled as the ranch hands herded the cattle into the corrals, in perfect harmony. Muscles rippled with weariness while their tails swished in tune with the slight breeze. The horses were beautiful.
After her fifth birthday, her father allowed her to attend the local riding school. While it wasn’t vast open fields like this ranch, the confines of the city equestrian hadn’t stumped her passion to jump on a horse the first chance she got. Crazy as it sounded, the idea of mounting one of these large horses and riding off into the horizon grew steadily.
“There you are, girls.” Freda stepped out onto the porch and distracted Samantha’s wild fantasies. “Reece injured his arm.”
“What?” Deborah shot out of the pickup, her brow puckered in concern.
“Calm down, dear girl.” Freda touched Deborah’s hand lightly. “He’s his dandy self, cut his arm on a rock.”
“Where is he…?” Deborah asked and disappeared into the house.
It amused Samantha that, although her friend had three brothers, being twins, made for a stronger bond between her and Reece.
“Is he okay?” Samantha jumped out and skirted the pickup.
“Come, dear, let’s go inside and see for yourself.” Freda extended an arm to Samantha as they entered the house.
Samantha didn’t want to disturb Reece while he was busy with the doctor.
She headed upstairs for a quick shower after Freda announced supper needed another thirty minutes or so. Donning a pair of black denims, a baby blue shirt, and black boots, she pulled her hair into a loose ponytail. Given the heat, she decided against makeup and descended to dinner, humming softly. Back home, dinner was a formal affair where her father demanded etiquette, visitors or not.
Vibrant chatter emanated from the living room which ceased when she entered.
Reece, Jace, and another male looked up.
Deborah leaped to her feet and looped an arm in hers. “Reece, Jace, you remember Samantha, my college roommate?”
Reece jumped up and shifted his hurt arm with an indifferent grin. “Howdy, darlin’ sure is nice to see you again.”
“Hi yourself, long time.” Samantha kissed his cheek lightly.
Jace rose, nodded shyly, and followed with a bashful smile.
When Deborah guided her to the third male, an impulsive sensation of nerves crept up Samantha’s spine.
“And this charming guy is Chance, our ranch supervisor.”
“Howdy, Samantha. Sure is a pleasure to meet you,” Chance drawled accompanied by an attractive smile. He extended a hand, which Samantha accepted, warming to his touch.
“Hello, Chance. Nice meeting you too.” Her gaze roamed his handsome, lean physique and vibrant hazel eyes with interest. Thank goodness you didn’t call him Cody. Her gaze swept the room as she searched for the missing-in-action
brother. Part of her patiently waited to put a face to the brute. Soon, she forgot about Cody as Reece claimed her undivided attention. Several minutes into the discussion, Samantha stood with her back to the living room entrance. Deborah’s soft greeting caught her ear.
“Hey, Cody.”
Slowly, Samantha turned and schooled her features into a polite mask, but shock momentarily widened her eyes…
Impossible!
The floor suddenly morphed into jelly, she forced every effort to stay upright. Silently she prayed for it to open up and swallow her whole, while trapped by the disconcertingly blue stare of the rider she almost ran over. Samantha shut her eyes tight, willed away the sight, but when she opened them again, he was still there. For one totally indescribable minute, she experienced
the vulnerability of a small animal about to be devoured by a marauding jungle beast.
Deborah nudged her forward. “Cody, I’d like you to meet Sam—”
Confusion momentarily clouded his eyes and then, “You.” She watched the rigid muscles in his jaw work overtime as he stiffened. “What the hell are you doing here, boy…” Cody broke off almost immediately. “Wait a darn minute… you’re no boy, you’re…dammit you’re a woman.” Annoyance clearly masked his severe features.
Samantha recovered her poise, tilted her chin at a proud angle, and refused to break his gaze.
“So, I guess you’ve met?” Deborah’s soft words broke the silence.
“Met? This woman almost ran me over yesterday,” Cody muttered dryly, without taking his eyes off Samantha.
The tension in the room could be cut with a knife. Everyone else ceased to exist. “An honest mistake, Mr. Bentley,” Samantha sputtered and matched his hostile glare. She took an instant dislike to the man. Her fine body hairs rose up in protective self-defense.
“That, Lady, was no mistake…just careless drivin’.”
His rudeness infuriated her right down to her toes. “Well, I don’t expect you to understand. You’re not much of a gentleman. Tell me, Mr. Bentley, do you always treat your guests with such emphatic rudeness?” she retorted in one breathless statement. He pinned her with a gaze so intense, her knees shook.
“Dammit, Cody, Samantha’s a guest.” Reece forestalled any reply by stepping between them.
Swiveling, Cody stomped out of the room, his boots clicked tersely against the tiles.
“Sorry ’bout that, darlin’.” Reece winked.
Samantha offered a light smile at his attempt at lightheartedness. Her body simmered with raw anger. Of all the nerve. She never met anyone as horrible as Cody. A brute of a man if she ever met one. Deborah’s earlier explanation suddenly made sense.
“Hey, girl, I’m sorry.” Deborah stepped forward and interrupted her mental distress.
Samantha uttered a dry laugh. “That went off well, wouldn’t you say?”

Interview Amber Daulton Author of Lyrical Embrace
Give a warm welcome to Amber Daulton, author of Lyrical Embrace, fourth book in A Deerbourne Inn Series.
Pull up a chair, grab a drink of your choice from the cooler, a Chocolate Chip or Peanut Butter cookie from the plate, and let’s find out a little about Amber and Lyrical Embrace.
Why should we read this book/series and what sets you apart from the rest and makes your book/series unique?
Lyrical Embrace is book four in the Deerbourne Inn series, a multi-author collaboration of novellas all set in the small fictional town of Willow Springs, Vermont. My story, in particular, is about a young woman who is trying to find herself after getting out of a bad relationship, and I’m sure a lot of women could relate to her.
Each story in the series focuses on one couple, the inn, small town life, and finding a happily ever after. The authors are sharing some of their characters, and it’s been great fun working with them and tossing ideas back and forth. The series stock characters include most of the town’s inhabitants, and those secondary characters jump from story to story, so you never know who will show up in the next book.
The stories range in heat level between sweet, sensual, and erotic. Some stories take place in the 1800s (around the town’s founding) and others are set in modern day.
What secret do you use to blast through writer’s block?
When I cannot concentrate or when everything I’m writing sounds wrong, I take time off to read in the genre I’m trying to write in. If I’m writing a romantic suspense, for example, I have to read RS books and nothing else. Usually, after a few weeks, my creative muse starts flowing, and I can finally get back to work!
How long have you been writing?
I published my first book when I was 26, but I’ve been writing since I was 12 after sneaking a Harlequin book out of my mom’s bedroom.
Lyrical Embrace is my eleventh publication, but I have about ten more manuscripts on my computer waiting to see publication.
Why do you write what you write?
I write in a variety of romantic sub-genres because I love them all. They include contemporary, romantic suspense, historical, western, NA, erotic romance, time travel, and paranormal. Some story ideas can fit in multiple settings and genres, but others fit in only one or two categories, so I like to keep my options open and my muse flowing to wherever it takes me.
What’s your approach to writing? Are you a plotter or follow your characters flow (Pantser)?
I plot as much as I can, but sometimes I get new ideas after I start writing. I usually follow the new path but always try to spin the story back on track. To plot, I use a pen, lots of paper, and highlighters. Sometimes I jot notes down in a Word doc. Before and during the writing of the MS, I write up character descriptions for every character in the book (no matter how minor) in a Word doc, which usually defines the character’s name, age, height, hair and eye color, important miscellaneous facts, and what articles of clothing they wear in each chapter. Doing these character write-ups helps me keep little mistakes down to zero. For example, it’s frustrating for me as a reader to read a story where the heroine is wearing a blue shirt in one chapter and then wearing a green shirt in the next chapter, and she wasn’t supposed to have changed her clothes. Little mistakes like that always draw me out of a story, so I definitely don’t want to make similar mistakes in my own writing.

A little about Lyrical Embrace
Out-of-work violinist Erica Timberly decides enough is enough. She leaves her abusive boyfriend and flees the big city, but then her car breaks down in the middle of the night. Though wary of men, she accepts help from Dylan Haynes, a stranger driving by on the road, and soon recognizes him as the sexy former drummer of her favorite indie rock band. Maybe, just maybe, her run of bad luck is finally turning around.
Music teacher Dylan Haynes knows Erica is in trouble, and her black eye is only the first clue. The stubborn yet vulnerable woman needs a friend, but he’s determined to give her everything she deserves.
Will Erica listen to the music in her heart and trust Dylan, or will her past always threaten her future?
A sneak peek between the pages of Lyrical Embrace!
Erica checked her watch. “It’s almost nine o’clock. What do you want to do now?”
“I have something in mind, but I’d like to surprise you.”
“Ooooh, interesting.” She braced her elbows on the table, weaving her fingers together, and braced her chin on her linked hands. “The movie theater in Montpelier?”
“Nah, it’s too late to go there tonight. The back-to-back movie marathons will have already started by now.”
“You’ve piqued my interest. C’mon, let’s go.” Erica handled the check, to Dylan’s irritation—she asked him to dinner, after all—but he took care of the tip.
After they left the tavern, Dylan pulled her close and circled his strong arms around her waist. Heat radiated from his body as he kissed her in the parking lot.
The shock of his lips on hers stilled Erica’s heart, but then the organ jump-started like an engine. Erica kissed back, desperate to taste him, and she savored the hint of spice on his tongue. She moaned and gripped the soft fabric of his shirt, almost ready to tear his clothes off.

Charm Me A Candy Hearts Romance for Valentine’s Day
Looking for a fun and flirty Valentines Day gift in ebook or audobook? CHARM ME is the perfect answer! To sweeten the pot, e-book on SALE for 99 Cents for a limited time.
CHARM ME is a Candy Hearts Romance. My publishing house, THE WILD ROSE PRESS did a call for stories surrounding the sayings on little candy hearts available around Valentine’s Day. I love those things, especially the SweetTart version. You remember those, right? Sounded like fun. I chose Charm Me obviously. LOL
At the time, I was taking a concealed carry permit class as well as taking my dog, Mystic, to agility classes. These two activities actually formed the story.
In Mystic’s class there was a yoga instructor with her dog. She had just purchased a yoga studio. An idea popped into to head the next night on the way to CCP class, what if a yoga instructor met a gun club owner and hit it off? Talk about an unlikely pair. Huh?
Since I write paranormal romance I stirred in a little magic creating the yoga instructor, Summer, as an elemental witch. And well, gun club owner, Devlin has secrets of his own. Set in Colorado Springs and Divide, Colorado, Charm Me was born. This fun and flirty Candy Hearts Romance makes the perfect Valentine’s Day gift. Available in e-book and audio book.
What’s Charm Me about?
Summer Dawn Riley’s an extraordinary elemental witch whose troubled past haunts her. She’s created a calm life for herself teaching yoga and keeping people at a distance. Her life takes a one eighty degree turn when she enrolls in a women’s weapons class and meets ruggedly handsome Devlin Sawyer.
Devlin, a former Navy Seal, has sworn off women after two long-term failed relationships, but there is no denying his attraction to Summer. She intrigues him like no other woman ever has. Despite her attempts to ignore him, Summer is drawn to Devlin. His magic signature is strong, but he’s no warlock. Will Valentine’s Day magic find them a future together?
A peek between the pages of Charm Me:
The corner of her mouth turned up in a half smile. “Witches talents are varied, spell casters, potions experts, seers, you get the picture.”
Bits and pieces of the dream fluttered through is mind. “What about dream weaving?” He asked, voice calm as he stole another sideways glance and shot her an encouraging smile.
She narrowed her eyes. “Why do you ask?”
“Just curious.” He shrugged and turned his attention to the road. Clouds obscured the sun and large fluffy snowflakes fell on the windshield and melted.
“Its a ability I’ve only heard about,” she replied, eyes narrowed.
One brow raised, he asked, “You don’t happen to have a fairy tat on your lower back?”
“How do you know that?” she demanded.
“I believe we shared a dream early this morning.” I would have loved to spent more time in that dream.
“That’s impossible.”
He glanced over at her again and her entire face and neck were red. “Really? The dream was sensual, but the fleeting scenes–I didn’t understand at the time but tried to comfort you. They make sense now. The ash was the vampire. You lit her up?”
Summer opened and shut her mouth several times then stammered, “How is that possible. How can you be so… about her demise?”
“Nothing wrong with protecting your own in my book. Magic creatures live and die by a different set of rules than regular people.
