Gale’s engagement is off because she refuses to leave her thriving business in Ireland to follow Dillon to Scotland. Her family and friends are on the emerald isle. Yet, when Dillon returns with the whole story and asks for her help, she must follow her heart.
Becoming a Solicitor, then partner in the family law firm was never Dillon’s dream. Now it’s his nightmare. Called to Scotland, his father demands he take his rightful place in the firm or be disowned and disinherited. Something is terribly amiss in the firm and family.
During Gale and Dillon’s investigation, they discover the enforcer for the Demon Overlord is also delving into rumors the firm is acting illegally. Magic has been stolen, someone is being blackmailed, and a member of the Witch’s council is corrupt. If Gale and Dillon want a life together in Ireland, they have to unearth secrets threatening to destroy the firm and family in Scotland
Sneak peek between the pages of A Witch’s Quandary:
“This is an outrage. It’s my firm.” Bram bellowed slamming his fist down on the table. Sparks flew in all directions creating a red-hot spider web of power crackling across the tabletop. Everyone at the table scrambled back or stood. Dillon caught the malevolent spark in his father’s eye a split-second after Gale. She had already brought her hands together, the room sizzled as she conjured a ball of fire and with a few words sent the witch fire and spell at him.
“What have you done?” Bram screeched as the fire and spell hit him center mass. “Witchfire too? Bitch.” He slid to the floor.
Iris ran to his side, tears spilling her cheeks, she wiped his sweat-soaked brow with a napkin. “You just couldn’t stop, could you? What did you do? Make a deal with the devil? We should have put a stop to it. To you. But…” She helped him into a chair. “I’m afraid you’ve messed with the wrong witch, this time. Brought this on yourself. You did. But I won’t let you take this family—the firm—down with you.” Giving his shoulders a little shake, she gazed into his shocked eyes. “What have you done?”
Bram slowly shook his head and murmured, “It’s my firm.” He raised his gaze and glared at Gale pointing a bony finger at her. “You’ll pay for this.” Then turned his attention to Dillon. “I told you nothing good would come from aligning yourself with this witch. Her blood is not pure. Diluted by the Fae power of her…” He broke off.
Dillon stood at Gale’s back his hands steady and supportive on her shoulders as she said nothing for several beats. Eventually, she turned her emerald green eyes to him and held his gaze. “I couldn’t let him divide the family with that dark magic. I tempered my deadly witch fire with the spell.” She tore her gaze from Dillon’s, touching her fingertips to the scorched marks radiating across the table stopping an inch from the edge all around. “If he’d succeeded, there’d been no turning back. If the tendrils of that spell had left the table and reached one of you…” She shook her head.

Take your choice of a Chocolate Chip or Snicker Doodle, or Peanut Butter cookie from the plate, and let’s find out a little about A Magic Redemption, fifth book in A Demon’s Witch Series. Each book in the series can be read as a stand alone. Could Synn really be descended from the elite Guardians Guild made up of magical creatures formed over a millennium ago? Leave your ordinary world behind,. Be swept into a magical fantasy adventure you won’t want to leave, download an e-book today!
What is A Magic Redemption all about?
Synn, a demon, carries extraordinary magic and power, but there is more within her than she dreams. Kidnapped as a child, her captors murdered her family and forced her into training as a warrior assassin. When an assignment goes horribly wrong, she finds herself at the mercy of the friends and family of her intended target. Offering valuable information in exchange for protection, she gains her freedom, but it is not without its challenges.
Gavin Shaughnessy is the publican at his family’s Irish pub. He is certain Synn is meant to be his and isn’t bothered by her past. He must find a way to convince her, their future together is stronger than the dark memories that haunt her dreams.
When her past comes calling for revenge, will their love survive the raging inferno she brings down upon them? Or will the searing path of destruction destroy all they hold dear?
Sneak peek between the pages of A Magic Redemption:
He showered, pulled on sweats, and stretched out on his empty king-sized bed. After his long flight, a peaceful sleep came quickly until Synn’s nightmare invaded his dream world. Gut wrenching terror tore through him until he was able to disengage himself from the nightmare. There’d be no phone call this time. For a moment he considered shifting, but he might need a vehicle after arriving at her home. He yanked off his sweats and pulled on jeans, a sweater, donned a coat, and grabbed his keys.
He found her sitting cross-legged on the bedroom floor. Storm curled in her lap. The usually active pup was lying still just peering up at her. When Gavin approached, Storm moved one ear forward and turned her head to look at him. “It’ll be okay, girl.” He knelt in front of Synn, brushed the hair away from her face. A vacant stare met his gaze into her eyes like she was in a trance. This couldn’t be good.
He’d seen her nightmare. Something was trying to control her. He wouldn’t let it happen. Releasing a breath, he took hold of her shoulders. She’d been like this once before. When she came out of it anyone within arm’s reach could be in danger. Though her magic was tempered these days, it wouldn’t be for long… Changing strategy, he repositioned himself behind her, caught her up in a bear hug, and pushed the pup out of her lap. Storm yelped and went grudgingly but refused to leave her side.
“Synn, it’s me Gavin; you’re safe.” He gave her a little shake. Arms and legs began flailing. She let out a blood curdling scream and kept screaming until he thought the neighbors a few miles away would hear and call the police. He held her tightly, sat down on the floor, and pulled her into his lap. “Synn. Synn. You’re all right. We’re at the cottage.” The screams turned to sobs. She leaned her head back and blinked.
Panic seized her. “Gavin, you’ve got to get out of here. He’s coming for me and will kill everyone associated with me, including Storm.” She reached for the pup cuddling her close to her chest. “I’m so sorry. I knew this would never work. I don’t deserve a normal life.”
“That’s enough. It was a nightmare. That’s all.”
She turned her large aqua eyes on him and raised an eyebrow. “Really?”

A Hero’s Heart by Amber Daulton
Happy holidays to all! Give a big welcome to Amber Daulton author of A Hero’s Heart. Have a seat and grab an insulated mug. I’ve got hot chocolate, hot cider and coffee. Choose your pot, they’re labeled. Pick your choice of a Snicker-doodle, Chocolate Chip or Peanut butter cookie from the plate. Yep, I baked them myself. We have a treat for you today, Jarrett Brandt and Marissa Reinn Brant from A Hero’s Heart have tagged along with Amber. Who want’s to be in the hot seat first?
“Oh how about ladies first? Jarrett offered.
“No way” Amber and Marissa chorused.
“Well, looks like it’s two again one Jarrett. You’re first?” I snickered. “Lets get started.”
Tells us about the real you—
Since I’m an undercover DEA agent, I’m used to playing different types of people while on assignment. Beneath all the bluster and the horrible things I sometimes have to do, I never forget who I am inside the person I’m pretending to be. I’m a gruff, strong-willed, flawed man who wants to make up for his mistakes. And boy, do I have a ton! I’m all about righting my wrongs, but it’s damn hard to take that first step, especially when it comes to my family. I finally take it in my story, oddly titled A Hero’s Heart. I’m no hero, but my ladylove Marissa and my author Amber disagree. After all the crap I’ve been through, I know better than to argue with a woman—let alone two.
Tell us three things we’d find if we looked under your bed?
Dust bunnies, dirty laundry, and some magazines—use your imagination. *wink wink*
What makes you laugh out loud?
My seven-year-old nephew, Jason. He’s the sweetest kid and says the damnedest things.
What makes you angry?
Anyone who wants to hurt Marissa and Jason.
What event in your past has left the most indelible impression on you?
I was arrested seven years ago for burglary and the intent to possess. That wake-up call changed everything for me. After I did a job for the feds to avoid prison time, I figured out what I wanted to do with my life, so I stayed on with the agency.
What do you sleep in at night?
Boxers, or I go commando.
What is the type of woman you want to spend the rest of your life with?
I want a take-no-bull kind of woman. She needs to be strong, self-assured, and stubborn enough to handle me. Marissa fits that to a T.
What do you consider most important in life?
Second chances. Everyone makes mistakes, but it shouldn’t define a person for the rest of his or her life. Redemption should always be an option.
What is your biggest secret?
Well, damn, Tena. I’m not gonna tell you that. It’s a secret.
Aww come on you’re no fun.
“That’s not what I hear.” He smirked.
Moving on before I get in trouble.
Marissa who are you really?
I’m an assistant chef at an Italian restaurant, and I’m doing my best to make it as a single mom. My husband died five years ago, and who knows where my son and I would be if not for my in-laws. The last thing I needed was for Jarrett to come back home. You see, Jarrett and I were high school sweethearts, but after he left town, I married his brother. Talk about awkward.
Tell us three things we’d find if we looked under your bed?
*Marissa blushes profusely* I shouldn’t say this, but I have an old suitcase under the bed with a combo lock on it. I keep some toys in there. You know what I mean—for-her-pleasure toys.
*Jarrett grins at that*
What makes you angry?
Lies and secrets. *She levels a glare at Jarrett* But I’ve gotten all of his out of him.
What do you sleep in at night?
It depends. If Jarrett and I are in the mood for sexy time, I’ll wear lingerie and perfume. If not, T-shirts and pajama bottoms work.
Who was the biggest role model in your life?
My aunt Carol. I didn’t have a good relationship with my mom, but my aunt and I were tight. She loved me more than anything and always tried to protect and take care of me. She died when I was eighteen after battling leukemia for a couple years. I lost her a few months after Jarrett left town, and losing both of them so close together nearly broke me.
What kind of man do you want to spend the rest of your life with?
I want someone who will appreciate me, never leave, and will put me and my son first. Though my relationship with Jarrett crashed and burned years ago, we’re trying again. He’s no longer an irresponsible teen—I’ve grown up too—and I believe with all my heart that our second chance is going to work out.
What is most important to you in life?
My son, and mutual respect and kindness with the man I love.
What is your biggest fear?
I’ve lost one husband already, and Jarrett has a dangerous job. I’m worried sick about him, but I trust him to do the right thing and not take any unnecessary risks.
Okay Amber, you’re up, Tell us a little about writing this story. Was it fun or difficult? Do your characters always act as you expect? Are you a plotter, or fly (write) by the seat of your pants?
I wrote A Hero’s Heart back in 2013 and revised it a few months ago after the rights reverted to me. I’ve always enjoyed this story and the characters. They’re strong, stubborn, and determined to have their way more often than not. I prefer to plot each scene, but sometimes it’s easier to let the hero and heroine do as they want.
Rekindling the flames of love has never burned so hot.
After an undercover mission goes awry, DEA agent Jarrett Brandt hides out in the last place he wants to be—his hometown. Now he’s stuck with his judgmental parents and the memory of his perfect brother hanging over his head. His one bright light? Marissa Reinn Brandt—his high school sweetheart and former sister-in-law.
Marissa lost Jarrett once before. No way will she let him back in; then her son offers him their guestroom. His wicked charm and smoldering stares are hard to resist, but she’ll make him work to reclaim his spot in her bed.
When his enemies close in, how will Jarrett keep Marissa and her son safe, or will he lose his shot at redemption?
– Triggers: drug use (discussed) and a brief assault of the heroine
– A Hero’s Heart is a smoking hot second chance, romantic suspense novella. No cheating. HEA guaranteed.
How about a peek between the pages of A Hero’s Heart:
“You can trust me, Jarrett. I won’t tell your parents anything you don’t want me to.” She sighed and stood as well. “You used to tell me everything. We never kept secrets.”
Jarrett paced between the coffee table and fireplace. “My parents’ opinion doesn’t matter. Dad would still throw up my juvie record or the fact that I’m not a cop, even if I was a model citizen. I’m not that lost, angry kid anymore. I know who I am now, and it’s not someone you’d want to know.”
“I disagree.”
“God, you don’t understand. Marissa, I’ve missed you so damn much. I’ve laid awake so many nights wondering what my life would’ve been like if I’d stayed here.” When he made love to other women, he imagined Marissa beneath him or above him, panting his name. When the nightmares of blood and gore faded, he dreamed of her. Those bittersweet memories and what if scenarios were almost worse than the nightmares. “I’ve done things I’m not proud of.”
“I hated you after you left, but I’ve gotten over it. Everyone feels regret and guilt over something. It’s all about being human.” She dashed away her tears. “I told you mine last night. Will you please show me the same courtesy?”
“I can’t.”
“At least tell me what you did last Christmas. Jason made it crystal clear that he didn’t want you alone. He wants you to have a tree.” She pointed at the Douglas fir. “Well, there you go. What did you do last year?”
Jarrett licked his dry lips, heat swelling in his cheeks.
He’d joined the Consuelo gang last December and spent the holiday in a slummy apartment with five thugs who sold cocaine on the streets of Albuquerque. Living around his drug of choice had nearly destroyed him.
“What about your last birthday?” Marissa blocked his path and braced her hands on her hips. “Did you have cake or go out with a bunch of buddies and get drunk? Did something horrible happen? Why won’t you tell me anything?”
He shoved a hand through his hair. “Damn it, Marissa. Yeah, I got drunk. A few of us went to a strip club where I fucked two dancers in a backroom. Is that what you wanted to hear?”
Her eyes widened as she stepped back.
Way to go, you fucking idiot. He brushed his shaky hands on his button-down shirt to steady them. “Marissa—”
She strode past him with a high head and left the room.
Her cold shoulder skewered him, but he didn’t deserve better.

Halloween Spirit Search & All Hallows Eve Trivia
All Hallows Eve (Halloween) only two days left! Can you believe it? Toil and Trouble continued search for the Halloween Spirit is rewarded this week. You won’t believe what they found. LOL! Next to the pumpkin, sitting on the witch’s hat the Halloween Spirit giggling and shouting Happy Halloween. Click on the link to see the live version. IMG_2851
I love Halloween One day out of the year you can dress up and pretend to be anything you want and people don’t think you’re crazy. Okay, well, not as crazy as if it wasn’t Halloween!
With the usual snow predicted on Halloween, the first annual search for the Halloween Spirit countdown ends today Toil (Unicorn) and Trouble (dragon) have exciting news about All Hallows Eve Spirit. and called Dave to tell him.
Their friend, Dave (Skeleton), from Texas (thank you Jessica) after a weeks of searching for the Halloween Spirit delighted at Toil and Trouble’s news., Dave, Mort, Buster and little one celebrated by carving their Halloween Pumpkins.
With only two more days before Halloween, how about a little Halloween Trivia? Bwwwaaaaaaaaaa!!!!
Celebrating a spooktacular Halloween. Toil and Trouble have found the Halloween Spirit.
Did you know, most present day Halloween traditions are traceable to the ancient Celtic day of the dead? Halloween consists of mysterious customs, but
each has a history, or at least a story behind it.
Take wearing costumes, and roaming from door to door demanding treats. This behavior can be traced to the Celtic period and the first few centuries of the Christian era, when it was thought that the souls of the dead were out and about, along with fairies, witches, and demons. Offerings of food and drink were left out to placate them. As the centuries wore on, people began dressing like these creatures, performing antics in exchange for food and drink. This is where the practice of trick-or-treating began. To this day, vampires, witches, ghosts, and skeletons are among the favorite costumes.
Our Halloween also retains activities from the original harvest holiday of Samhain, such as bobbing for apples and carving vegetables, (pumpkins) as well as the fruits, nuts, and spices for cider associated with the day. Although at my house, hot chocolate is pretty popular, since Halloween almost guarantees the first snow of the year. This year is no different.
L
et’s switch gears for a moment and take a peek at Cripple Creek, Mining District of Colorado. With its history of unexplained, supernatural occurrences, tales of haunted hotels, casinos, and homes no wonder Cripple Creek is touted to be one of the most haunted placed in the United States! What better way to celebrate Halloween than visit a haunted Cripple Creek?
Many prospectors lost everything they had, some even their lives in the pursuit of gold. With the tales of fires, (Cripple Creek burned to the ground in 1896) floods, mining accidents, general lawlessness in the beginning then bloody battles between mine owners and labor unions, it’s no wonder stories abound of ghosts haunting this historic town that once boasted one murder a day.
Hotel St. Nicolas
So let’s take a closer look at those ghosts. First up, The Hotel St. Nicholas boasts a colorful history. Today its spectacular view of Cripple Creek, 15 guest rooms, furnished with elegance of a bygone era and one restored historic miner’s cottage still includes tales of the supernatural and unexplained. Originally built as a hospital that served the flood victims in the region in the late nineteenth century, it also served as a home for the Sisters of Mercy. As time went on, the hospital served prospectors and their families and then expanded adding a ward for the mentally ill. The hospital closed in the 1970’s. St. Nicholas is rumored to be haunted by several spirits including children, former patients of the mental ward, nuns and an old cantankerous miner. For more information see Hotel St. Nicholas.
The Imperial Hotel at Third Street and Bennett Avenue known originally as the Collins Hotel, was built after most the town burned to the ground in 1896. As a young man, George Long emigrated from Europe and eventually made his way to Denver. He married his first cousin and together they ran the hotel. The union produced two daughters and a son. The eldest daughter, Alice, was mentally disturbed and the parents were forced to keep her locked in their apartment next to the lobby for her safety and the safety of others. Soon after George fell to his death while negotiating the narrow stairs to the basement. Or some say Alice escaped, waited for him at the top of the stairs, struck him over the head and he crashed to his death from the stop of the stairs. It’s rumored his ghost haunts the hotel to this day.
My experience at the Imperial Hotel was at the performance of Dracula by the Imperial Players in early 1990’s. The performance was excellent, but the strong feeling of someone watching, icy patches and pressure on my arm and lower back, when no one was there. The hair on the back of my neck stood straight up. After meeting the cast in the lobby for an autograph session, my family and I quickly exited the hotel and raced to the safety of our vehicle, thankful that we hadn’t booked a room. Looking back on the experience, was it the performance
of Dracula in the supposedly haunted hotel that caused my imagination to run wild, or was there really something there? I admit to having an overactive imagination, but not that time. In the years since, I’ve visited Cripple Creek on numerous occasions, to explore old buildings and
mining shacks. My husband and I drive up Hwy 67 to enjoy the turning of the Aspens in autumn, but I haven’t set foot in the Imperial Hotel since that night.
