An Angel’s Wylder Assignment – New Release #MFRWHooks

Today I’m excited, along with #MFRWHooks to present AN ANGEL’S WYLDER ASSIGNMENT.  Part of the multi-author WylderWest Series from The Wild Rose Press.  Have a seat and grab an insulated mug. I’ve got hot chocolate, hot cider and coffee. Choose your pot, they’re labeled. Pick your choice of a Snicker-doodle, Chocolate Chip or Peanut butter cookie from the plate. Yep, I baked them myself. Shall we find out a wee bit about AN ANGEL’S WYLDER ASSIGNMENT?

First off, AN ANGEL’S WYLDER ASSIGNMENT releasing today is Chinoah & Killian’s sage which began in AN ANGEL’S UNINTENTIONAL ENTANGLEMENT https://buff.ly/2SpF2tF,   part of A Demon’s Witch Series.  Anyhoo, I plucked them out of An Angel’s Unintentional Entanglement and set a course from present-day Scotland for a time travel, mystery, adventure set in Wylder, Wyoming Territory 1878.

This book was an adventure in itself for me.  Because paranormal is anything I can imagine and have an overactive imagination, I can write anything I want and make it work. I love magic. So it was quite a change to have to do research. What was life like in 1878? What appliances were available, hot and cold running water? Not so much unless you were rich. Mode of transportation, horse and buggy or on foot? Then, the blacksmith craft my hero was saddled with in the assignment. Yes, there is magic. What a learning curve.   Not to mention creating a fictional community with other authors and their characters. Whew! In the end, An Angel’s Wylder Assignment was exactly what I envisioned.  I hope you’ll grab a copy and come along for the fantastic adventure.

What’s the story about you ask:

Warrior Angel Killian Dugan’s annual trip to the family castle in Scotland is shattered by the arrival of Legion Commander North. Killian’s skills are needed for an urgent time travel assignment. A rogue demon has escaped back in time. He must discover the why and where and stop the demon before it can damage the past and change the future.

Killian’s girlfriend Chinoah Grace, a Native American shapeshifter is included in the mission which takes them to the wild west town of Wylder, Wyoming in the year 1878. She will have her hands full fitting in and making friends.

Nothing is as it seems.  They encounter visions, spirit quests, and a mysterious shaman.  On top of it all, blending in as a blacksmith is more physically difficult than he imagined. But not as challenging as keeping his hands off his undercover wife. Will they complete their assignment or run out of time?

Did I mention there is an adorable dog that saves the day?

A peek between the pages of AN ANGEL’S WYLDER ASSIGNMENT.

Inside the family castle in Scotland, Killian put aside his warrior angel duties and relaxed in front of a roaring fire with Chinoah, a Native American wolf shifter.

He idly swirled wine in a cut crystal glass, watching the flames glint off the burgundy liquid. It was his duty to take care of the property while his cousin, Tavish, and his family were on holiday before the highland’s harsh winter weather set in.

This year he’d be staying through the holidays, though Chinoah didn’t know it yet.

Who says a battle-ready warrior angel couldn’t handle both duty and family. Bollocks to that.  His best friend, Caden, did it. Well, kinda. Legion Commander Nathanial North balanced both just fine.

He slipped an arm around Chinoah. She cuddled into him as he pulled the patchwork quilt Jalen, Tavish’s wife, had made and given them to celebrate their hard-won relationship status of dating. One step at a time, Chinoah had requested.

The brass door knocker echoed through the castle announcing visitors.

With a raised brow, he peered at Chinoah. “Expecting guests, are we?”

“Not as far as I know.” She got to her feet and padded across the stone floor.

“Wait.” Grumbling, he pushed up from the cozy warm couch, slipped his socked feet back into his boots, and clomped toward her. “Best let me answer the door since we don’t know who’s waiting on the other side.”

She slowed her pace to allow him to catch up with her. “This castle is huge. By the time we get to the door, the visitors may be gone.” She giggled.

“Way to keep in shape.” Chuckling, he kissed her. “Apparently, my cousin made the original great hall into their family living space.”

“God help us if we’re in the bed-chamber when someone comes calling.” She snickered. “We’d have to sprint down the balcony hallway, across the split staircase, and through the great hall. By then, the visitors would have decided no one was home.”

“Which could have been Tavish’s plan.” He smiled at the thought. “Besides, I didn’t hear you complain last evening when you thundered through the castle for a couple of hours on four paws.”

“That was different. My wolf needed the exercise, and you didn’t want me to go outside.” Her lips formed a pout that he found irresistible.

“Didn’t want to spring you from a trap.” He turned his attention out the window where the snow swirled in the howling wind. “Besides, who in bloody hell would be calling at this time of night and in this weather?”

She raised an eyebrow and shrugged. “Only one group of individuals I know.”

“Oh, no. I’m on leave. They didn’t know where I was going. Besides, they wouldn’t expect me to be here.” The ancient wooden door groaned then made a squeeing sound when Killian yanked it open. “What in tarnation are you doing here?”

Interview Mary Morgan Author of Oath of a Warrior

Give a warm welcome to Mary Morgan, author of Oath of a Warrior, Second book in Legends of the Fenian Warriors.

Pull up a chair, grab a drink of your choice from the cooler, a Chocolate Chip or Peanut Butter cookie from the plate, and let’s find out a little about Mary and Oath of a Warrior, a tale of  HOT Fenian Warriors.

Hi Tena! Thanks for having me on your wonderful blog today! I’m excited to share my new release, OATH OF A WARRIOR, Legends of the Fenian Warriors, Book 2.

In doing research for Oath of a Warrior, I came across hundreds of cases pertaining to witches and the witch trials in Scotland. The records of Scotland’s witch trials spanned over a period of 200 years during the 16th and 17th centuries. However, I did find evidence of several women being burned, or executed in the late 15th century. This was a dark period in Scottish history, exposing a culture of fear and panic that cast a cloud over much of Scotland.

Some of the charges brought against these individuals ranged from belonging to a coven, receiving herbs from the Queen of the Faeries, and using charms against another person. It did not matter if you were a servant or upper class, either. If you wanted to rid yourself of someone, all you had to do was accuse them of being a witch.

Erina was a wonderful character to write and one I knew who would appeal to Rory. She loved her garden and animals, tended to those who required healing, made love charms, and believed in the old ways. A perfect combination for any to accuse her of dealing in the black arts. Yet, she never saw herself as a witch. Only someone who was different. Sadly, even in this century, we tend to look at others who do not walk the same path as the majority as odd.

Tell us a little about Oath of a Warrior.

Can a timeline be rewritten for love?

“You met them in the Order of the Dragon Knights. Now, journey to the realm of the Fae and witness their legends!”

Fenian Warrior, Rory MacGregor’s love conquests are legendary, but he has never spoken of the one mortal female who captured his heart. After his dark secret is finally revealed, he is ordered to return and seal the wounds left open by her death. Yet, he finds the timeline altered and swears an oath to rewrite fate, even if it brings about his own death.

Erina MacIntyre is known for her healing herbs and love charms. Determined to aid others, she refuses to listen to the whispers that call her a witch. When a Highlander steps forth into her path, he ignites a thread of strange familiarity and sparks a flame of desire she is unable to control.

Can the destiny of two lovers find love once more among the ashes of death and betrayal? Or will history repeat itself, leaving a scorching path of destruction for both mortals and Fae alike?

How about a sneak peek between that pages of Oath of a Warrior?

“Erina, mo ghrá,” he groaned, taking her mouth with savage intensity. She tasted of honey and spices, filling him completely and easing the torment that continually plagued him.

Breaking free, he placed his hands on either side of the door. Giving her all of him required something more from Erina. Without the assurance of accepting him for what he was, Rory would be a lost man.

“Are ye certain ye want to ken all of me? I want ye as sure as the sun rises and sets over the land each day, but ken this, Erina—there is more to me than a simple bedding. There are things about me that might frighten ye. What I’m about to share with ye may cause ye to question my existence, or worse, my sanity.”

Her laugh was seductive and soothing as she wrapped her arms around his neck. “From the moment ye stepped through those trees that first day, I realized ye were not like any man I had encountered. It was as if the trees parted and ye came forth from inside them.” She brushed her fingers along his brow. “For one, ye have the most mesmerizing eyes and they shift colors.”

“And the second?”

Her face turned a rosy glow, yet, she held his gaze. “I thought your body chiseled from the old Gods, especially with all the markings on your back and arms.”

His gaze swept over hers. “I am nae God, Erina, though some would call me a demon.”

She traced a finger down along his arm and shook her head. “Ye are not a monster, but I am nae fool. Ye are not like other men, Rory. I have seen the markings on your body elsewhere.” Her finger curved around his shoulder and he trembled. “They are similar to the ones on the standing stones carved by the ancients.”

Rory fought the tide of emotions sweeping through him. She had come to the conclusion all on her own. “And ye would not flee if I told ye I was one of those ancients? One where the bards wove tales of giants who lived thousands of years ago among your own people? Others would call the story incredulous and filled with heathen words.” He held his breath, fearing her reply.

The smile she gave him speared straight to his soul. “Nae. I would not flee.”

ORDER OF THE DRAGON KNIGHTS

Dare to journey with the Dragon Knights of Scotland!

They were an ancient order descended from the great Tuatha De Danann, a tribe from the Goddess Danu. Half human and half fae, each blessed with mystical powers. They were also given holy relics and guardianship over the dragons.

With the dawn of Christianity, the dragons were systematically hunted down and slain leaving only one. The Dragon Knights took her from Ireland to a land across the sea, settling in the Great Glen near Urquhart. The clan was known as the MacKay clan, descendants from the MacAoidh.

Yet, there were those who deemed the Order had too much power, and they tried to possess it for themselves. They were evil and twisted, and their plan succeeded one fateful night.

The Clan MacKay is no longer.

The Dragon Knights are scattered across the land.

Yet out of the darkness, they will each fight for redemption, and the women they love.

Interview Tricia Schneider, Author of The Pirate’s Lady

Give a warm welcome to Tricia Schneider, author of The Pirate’s Lady.

Pull up a chair, grab a drink of your choice from the cooler, a Chocolate Chip or Peanut Butter cookie from the plate, and let’s find out a little about Tricia Schneider and The Pirate’s Lady!

Tricia, how long have you been writing?

I’ve been writing for over 25 years. I wrote several short stories when I was a child including a mystery series featuring my brother’s pet turtle as a detective. I wrote my first full-length novel when I was 15. Inspired from a dream I’d had it was an adventurous romance about a woman trapped in an alternate dimension. I wrote it during summer vacation from morning until night for an entire week. Since then, I’ve written well over 75 manuscripts most of which are hidden in dusty boxes in my closet.

Did you tell friends and family that you were writing a book? Or did it take a while to come out and tell friends and family you were a writer?

My family knew before I did that I would be a writer someday. I simply wrote for fun. It was something I did to entertain myself. Besides the short stories that I wrote when I was a kid, my brother and I produced our own newspaper which featured humorous news articles similar to that of The Onion. My family was forced to subscribe, of course.

Where do your story ideas come from? If they come to you in the middle of the night, do you get up and write them all down?

Most of my stories come to me during dreams. I’ll get a glimpse of a scene or perhaps a character. When I wake up, I immediately write everything so I don’t lose a single detail. Sometimes story ideas come to during the day. I was driving to the grocery store one day when the first scene for The Pirate’s Lady popped into my brain.

What do you like to do when you are not writing?

Typically, I read. For the longest time, I didn’t have many hobbies other than reading and writing. I used to enjoy cross-stitching, but when my firstborn became a toddler I packed up all the needles and sewing material because I was afraid he’d get into it and hurt himself. My kids are older now so last year I decided to dive back into crafts. My mother taught me the basics of crocheting when I was little but after she died I gave it up. So, I refreshed my crochet skills and then decided to teach myself how to knit. I’ve quickly progressed from simple coasters to decorative baby booties. My kids are now all equipped with knitted hats, scarves and sweaters. I make blankets for baby shower gifts and birthdays. I’m having so much fun with all this colorful yarn that I’m thinking of opening an Etsy store and selling some of it. My kids are getting tired of all the stuff I keep making for them!

What’s your favorite part of being an author?

I love creating characters and the worlds they live in. It gives me immense pleasure to dive into the fantasy world of my characters. It’s like watching a movie in my brain and then writing it down to share with readers. I also like working from home. I have 4 children (all under the age of 11), so I love being available if they need me at any time of the day or night. I work my writing hours in between their school schedules and extracurricular activities. It’s not easy, but I manage to juggle everything that needs to get done.

Captain Marco Dante was captured and sentenced to hang two years ago, but he escaped before his punishment was carried out. Now he’s come back to the woman whose memory kept him alive those long months in prison. Arianne had been his grand passion, but he failed to see how much she meant to him until it was too late. Can he recapture her heart? Or has he lost her forever?

Arianne never imagined she’d see her notorious pirate lover again. Though her heart sings with joy at his return, she knows he hasn’t come back for her but for the treasure he left behind. She agrees to help him find it, but can her heart withstand one more adventure with him?

A sneek peek between the pages of The Pirates Lady:

“I no longer travel your path. You sail without me, my friend.”

She pushed her bare toes into the grainy sand and stood, brushing the remaining sand that clung to her petticoats. In the silence of the crashing waves, she turned and walked away.

Inside, her heart bled. Yet, she deserved no better. Her life led to this heartache. That she walked away from this man now, after all this time only confirmed it.

“Arianne, you’re coming with me.”

His serious tone warned her of his intentions. She spun to face him, unsheathing her sword in time to block his attack. The sound of metal striking metal pierced the moonlit darkness. Her ears rang with the sound.

They stood, neither moving. She stared into his eyes. “You would take me by force?”

“Never by force,” his voice lowered to a growl. “You will come willingly.” And he smiled, that knowing one she hated.

She let out a howl of outrage and swung her sword. He easily blocked. They stepped a deadly dance of striking blades, until again they were trapped by heated gazes.

Her breathing was heavy, labored, filled with excitement. She looked at his lips, wanting to taste them but knowing she dared not. Her will was never strong around him. With one touch she might lose herself and want him again for forever. But that dream would never be achievable with Marco.

With him, she’d always be alone.

“Come with me, Arianne.”

“No.”

She pushed away and again they danced. Her feet moved lightly as she sprang, her petticoats swirling with each movement though she hoped they would not entangle her legs. Her arm swung with lithe movements as she fought. She equaled him with skill and grace. Each time their swords clashed, the noise pierced her soul. That she fought him was a testament to her determination to escape his tyranny over her heart. She could not succumb to him again.

As they battled, a sheen of sweat appeared upon his brow. The exposed skin of his chest glistened in the moonlight. His arms flexed as he swung his sword. His grace, his power, his energy seduced her.

Her heart pounded. Her skin ached to touch his. The heat in her lower regions grew to a fiery inferno. She trembled.

Again, they locked blades.

They stood a moment, staring. His gaze burned into her soul. She licked the salty sweat from her upper lip, and his eyes followed the movement with utter fascination.

He pushed their swords away. With his free hand, he grabbed her shoulder, pulling her tight against his chest. Arianne tilted her head to look into his eyes. The blue depths called to her, like the ocean’s waves licking at her feet. The yearning to go to him was too great. She hadn’t the will to fight.
