The strangest things I’ve eaten – #L&SR’s Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge
Welcome to #L&SR’s Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge August 26, 2020, The strangest things I’ve eaten! Well now that’s interesting. Please have a seat, grab an iced tea or lemonade out of the cooler. Be sure and try a chocolate chip or peanut butter cookie.

Okay I admit to being a picky eater: I love fruits, hate most veggies, and love italian. Strange food is not my forte. However in my younger days, I was tricked into eating a few odd items.

Beef Tongue
Beef tongue. Suppose to be a delicacy. That is a downright lie. It was like chewing on old shoe leather. Yuck!

Bulgogi
During the years I studied Taekwondo, I tasted a few different oriental foods. Some I enjoyed like Bulgogi. I have the recipe and make it on a regular basis.
But Octopus I just couldn’t get past my tongue. The texture was just to weird for my palate. <shivers>
So give me good old pizza and I’m a happy camper!
So there you have it the strangest things I’ve eaten . How about you? Eaten any strange things?

Discover the consequences of awakening hidden Gypsy magic!
The Salem Wildlife Sanctuary is Gwen Taylor’s life work. Her Irish Gypsy heritage provides a hidden talent she uses to help the creatures under her care. But even her magical skills can’t help new rescues in dire need of veterinary care.
The opportunity of signing on as the vet for Gwen’s sanctuary dropped into Brock Scutter’s lap after he expanded his practice to include wildlife. The personal attraction he and Gwen experience is undeniable the more their professional and personal lives collide.
Touring the only “non-haunted” house in Salem they both feel a spark of magic. A trip to his family’s cabin uncovers a heritage he didn’t know existed. If they want a future together, it means facing the consequences of awakening hidden Gypsy magic and a race against the clock to correct past wrongs.

#Wednesday’s Blog Challenge-Last Place I Traveled to & Why
Welcome to #L&SR’sJuly 1, 2020 – The last place I traveled to & why! This one is a no brainer! Please have a seat, grab an iced tea or lemonade out of the cooler. Be sure and try a chocolate chip or peanut butter cookie.
This week’s topic is easy peazy. So here we go.

Where: Over Memorial Day Weekend, we packed up the fifth wheel, Taco, our parrot, Mystic our dog, and Sammie our box turtle and headed to Cheyenne Mountain State Park. It’s not far from our home, but a first safe camping trip of the season giving Colorado’s propensity to drop between five to ten inches of snow over the holiday weekend. But this year, a beautiful weekend! Yippee!
Why: Because it’s camping season, that’s really all the reason you need. But…if you must have other reasons: Get away from the city. Rest, relax and recharge. Wildlife watching. Great hiking trails that allow dogs. No honey do list. Great excuse to lounge outside and read! Otherwise, there’s not much reading time when you are an author with deadlines.

Mystic standing guard in front of the fifth wheel trailer.

Taco decided camping is hard work, thusly requires a nap.

Sammie the explorer!
So there you have it, the last place I traveled to & why. How about you? What’s the last place you traveled to & why?
Alas, I must return to my writing cave where deadlines loom with final galley on my upcoming release HIDDEN GYPSY MAGIC, and Chocolate Raspberry Magic is in edits, and on a new WIP sixth book in A Demon’s Witch Series(very exciting and coming along very well) so let’s see what other authors list as the last place they traveled to and why. School’s out. Looking an exciting read to whisk you away from your ordinary world into a magical, fantasy adventure ? Got just the thing. A Witch’s Journey. – Former Navy Seal, Lathen Quartz helps Pepper, a powerful witch, achieve her life-long dream of a wild life rescue. But can they save the McKay magic amid a 4th of July festival they’ll never forget?
A bit about A Witch’s Journey on sale for 99 cents! At dusk, the mist rolled in, but it didn’t dampen the revelers’ enthusiasm. Pepper and Lathen followed the crowd over to the harbor where several boats were lined up and decorated with different kinds of patriotic colored lights. A variety of bulbs burned steady, while others flashed, chased, and twinkled. One pleasure craft had a flag draped over the bow made up of red, white, and blue lights that blinked in time to “The Star Spangled Banner” playing in the background.
After casting votes for the best display, they returned to Lathen’s pickup and drove the short distance to the Sea Crest Inn, where everyone gathered for an ice cream social to benefit local charities. Local bands presented the entertainment for the evening. Music ranged from country to rock and roll, and even a group that did a respectable job on the 1812 Overture as the spectacular fireworks display exploded in the night sky.
A cold shiver ran up her spine as goose bumps crept up her arms. Pepper reached down to untie her sweater from her waist, and someone grabbed her around the middle and covered her mouth with a hand. Excruciating pain exploded through her temples. Instinctively, she sank her front teeth into the palm of the hand covering her mouth.
Thanks for popping in. I really appreciate it. Next week, July 8, can you believe it already? Anyway the topic is A project or hobby of mine inspired by a book! Oh that should be fun.

A Magic Redemption – #MFRWHooks
For #MFRWhooks this week a tale about A MAGIC REDEMPTION – from the award winning A Demon’s Witch Series. Even with magic, finding your place in the world proves more difficult than imagined especially when someone is out for revenge.
So pull up a chair and get comfy, grab a drink of your choice from the cooler, a Chocolate Chip or Peanut Butter cookie from the plate, and let’s find out a little about A MAGIC REDEMPTION!

A little background to A Magic Redemption:
A Magic Redemption was in the process for quite some time. Synn the Heroine of the book has wandered in and out of most of the books in A Demon’s Witch Series. I always knew I’d have to tell Synn’s story, but had to wait until all the pieces fell into place from the other books in the series. I’m super excited to share her incredible adventure and heart-warming story with you. I certainly hope you enjoy reading A Magic Redemption as much as I did writing Synn’s tale. Pssst… soon to be available in Audio.
A bit about A MAGIC REDEMPTION:
Synn, a demon, carries extraordinary magic and power, but there is more within her than she dreams. Kidnapped as a child, her captors murdered her family and forced her into training as a warrior assassin. When an assignment goes horribly wrong, she finds herself at the mercy of the friends and family of her intended target. Offering valuable information in exchange for protection, she gains her freedom, but it is not without its challenges.
Gavin Shaughnessy is the publican at his family’s Irish pub. He is certain Synn is meant to be his and isn’t bothered by her past. He must find a way to convince her, their future together is stronger than the dark memories that haunt her dreams.
When her past comes calling for revenge, will their love survive the raging inferno she brings down upon them? Or will the searing path of destruction destroy all they hold dear?
A sneak peek between the pages of A MAGIC REDEMPTION: The hook.
He showered, pulled on sweats, and stretched out on his empty king-sized bed. After his long flight, a peaceful sleep came quickly until Synn’s nightmare invaded his dream world. Gut wrenching terror tore through him until he was able to disengage himself from the nightmare. There’d be no phone call this time. For a moment he considered shifting, but he might need a vehicle after arriving at her home. He yanked off his sweats and pulled on jeans, a sweater, donned a coat, and grabbed his keys.
He found her sitting cross-legged on the bedroom floor. Storm curled in her lap. The usually active pup was lying still just peering up at her. When Gavin approached, Storm moved one ear forward and turned her head to look at him. “It’ll be okay, girl.” He knelt in front of Synn, brushed the hair away from her face. A vacant stare met his gaze into her eyes like she was in a trance. This couldn’t be good.
He’d seen her nightmare. Something was trying to control her. He wouldn’t let it happen. Releasing a breath, he took hold of her shoulders. She’d been like this once before. When she came out of it anyone within arm’s reach could be in danger. Though her magic was tempered these days, it wouldn’t be for long… Changing strategy, he re-positioned himself behind her, caught her up in a bear hug, and pushed the pup out of her lap. Storm yelped and went grudgingly but refused to leave her side.
“Synn, it’s me Gavin; you’re safe.” He gave her a little shake. Arms and legs began flailing. She let out a blood curdling scream and kept screaming until he thought the neighbors a few miles away would hear and call the police. He held her tightly, sat down on the floor, and pulled her into his lap. “Synn. Synn. You’re all right. We’re at the cottage.” The screams turned to sobs. She leaned her head back and blinked.
Panic seized her. “Gavin, you’ve got to get out of here. He’s coming for me and will kill everyone associated with me, including Storm.” She reached for the pup cuddling her close to her chest. “I’m so sorry. I knew this would never work. I don’t deserve a normal life.”
“That’s enough. It was a nightmare. That’s all.”
She turned her large aqua eyes on him and raised an eyebrow. “Really? Are you willing to stake your life on it?”

#L&SR’s #Wednesday’s Blog Challenge -Things I WIsh I Were Better At
Welcome to #L&SR’s #Wednesday’s Blog Challenge 6-3-20, Things I WIsh I Were Better At. Wow this one is easy. so many to choose from. Please have a seat, grab an iced tea or lemonade out of the cooler. Be sure and try a chocolate chip or peanut butter cookie. Lets get started with Things I Wish I Were Better At.

Wow, after last week’s topic, this one is another slam dunk. LOL
Patience is not one of my virtues. I wish it was. My life would certainly be a lot smoother.
Painting – I’d love to be able to paint beautiful scenes of wildlife, beaches, mountains, ocean-front beach houses and mountain cabins. Alas, people don’t even recognize my stick figures. Sad. Huh? With a camera I can frame beautiful scenes and I’m thankful for being able to do at least that much. LOL
Talking in front of a group of people. Believe it or not, debate was something I was good at in high school. Unfortunately, speaking in front of a group is a talent that has to be practiced and honed. It’s not like riding a bike. I need more a lot more work in that area.
Keeping a clean house. I love a clean house, but I HATE to clean it.
Keeping my mouth shut and reading over and thinking before I send an email out. I tend to be a bit sharp tongued at times. WIth that, make sure I listen, really listen to what people are saying to me. Means reading between the lines sometimes. LOL
Being a Type A personality and an extravert I tend to be driven in my tasks/goals and don’t relax, take a break as much as I should. Trying to do better, but….
Promotions. For me, it’s like nailing jello to a moving target. Just about the time you think you’ve got a handle on it, poof, it all changes. Frustrating. Last year I ran lots of ads, test markets, various companies, and came up with a viable plan. It’s worked pretty well this year, but…things are changing again. People’s lives have been upended, everything costs more and wages have been lost or at risk. The upside is that families are spending more time together figuring out what’s more important and what comes next.
So there you have it, a few of the many Things I Wish I Were Better At. I’d love to hear from you. Please share your thoughts on things you wish you were better at. Please list them in the comments below.
Alas, I must return to my writing cave where deadlines loom with edits on my upcoming release HIDDEN GYPSY MAGIC and on a new WIP sixth book in A Demon’s Witch Series(very exciting and coming along very well) so let’s see what other authors list Things I WIsh I Were Better At. L&SR
Pssst… While you’re here, don’t forget to check out my paranormal romance/mysteries click here.

School’s nearly out. Looking an exciting read to whisk you away from your ordinary world into a magical, fantasy adventure in Ireland? Got just the thing. A Magic Redemption. Synn has extraordinary magic and power. Could she really be descended from the elite Guardians Guild made up of magical creatures formed over a millennium ago?
A peek between the pages:
Time seemed to go on forever as she slowed and walked backward for a while, her foot steps in the sand filling with water as she traveled along the shoreline, as if nature erased her intrusion. She turned around and continued her trek. Unaware of how long or how far she’d walked, the sudden outline of a figure, cloaked in the fog, jogging toward her caused panic to set in. Her heart pounded rapidly in her chest, she swallowed hard, adrenalin pumping through her veins as flight or fight response kicked in. Digging her good foot into the sand she prepared to attempt a sprint…to where. Where the hell am I? A quick glance around, she spied a light from a familiar building far off on the bluffs as the figure burst from the fog. A tall, wide-shouldered male with long muscular legs came closer. She froze.
Thanks for popping in. I really appreciate it. Next week, June 10, can you believe it already? Anyway the topic is Favorite poems, short stories, or novellas. Oh boy is that going to be a long list. How about you?
