A Celebration — 99¢ SALE A WITCH’S JOURNEY

Thanks for stopping by today as I continue my three year anniversary celebration, living the dream, as a published author and as a thank you for my readers. 99¢ Sale for a limited time A Witch’s Journey. Over the new several weeks other books will be on sale also. So watch for them. Many have asked why w rite Romance?I like the happily ever after aspect. I want to whisk my readers away from the everyday to a magic world. My romance books spin the adventures of magical kick-ass women and mystical alpha males that dare to love them. Well, okay there are a few companion animals to round out the tales and enough mystery and suspense to keep you turning pages.
For me crafting a romance is all about RESPECT, TRUST and LOVE with a bit of mystery and magic sprinkled in. Only most of my characters are of the paranormal persuasion. I want to create a memorable love story with spice, travel and adventure. Characters that will grab hold of your heart and hang on long after youâve read the last word and closed the book with a satisfied sigh.
I loved writing this book. It’s part of the Lobster Cover Series and the first in my A Witch’s Journey series.
Wildlife rescue and rehab are projects close to my heart. Writing this book was fun because it was set in a small coastal town about wildlife rescue and exciting events. Though there more to both Lathen and Pepper than meets the eye. Their work hard and pay it forward attitude make them some of my favorites.
A Witch’s Journey –Â It’s about the magic, love and dedication of a witch – wildlife rehabilitator who meets a former Navy SEAL willing and able to make all her dreams come true. Their journey begins with building a wildlife rescue and rehab center, her life-long dream, then falling in love despite the dark secrets neither are willing to share, until someone tries to steal the McKay Magic.
Blurb: Pepper McKay comes from a long line of powerful witches. Unfortunately, magic brings her nothing but trouble. She learned the love of wildlife rescue and rehab from her Aunt Ashling. After graduating from college, Pepper works for Salem Wildlife Sanctuary and lives from paycheck to paycheck until she inherits the McKay property in Lobster Cove. With the family land and resources, she dares to dream of starting her own wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center.
Lathen Quartz, a former Navy SEAL turned handyman maintains the enchanted McKay property for the McKay estate. But someone is trying to steal the McKay magic. Lathen offers to help Pepper achieve her life-long dream of building a wildlife center. During the long hours spent together on the project, their mutual attraction canât be denied. But each harbors a deep, dark secret. Will they overcome their demons and give love a chance?
A peek between the pages of A Witch’s Journey:
The waves on the pond slapped noisily against the rocky shore as the mist crawling along the ground and settling over the pond took shape. Out of the fog rose a woman dressed in a simple long indigo skirt and peasant blouse under a firm white bodice. Holding her arm was a man who wore knee-length black breeches with a long dark vest over his peasant shirt. They glided across the pond and stepped onto the shore. An audible gasp came from the ghosts, and they moved closer.
Lathen, Pepper, and her parents sat silent, eyes wide in disbelief.
âGood evening, McKay clan.â The man offered a pleasant smile and said in a deep voice reminiscent of Duncanâs, âAllow me to introduce my wife, Dusty McKay.â He wrapped an arm around her waist and brought her forward. âI am Aidan Duncan McKay. We have taken advantage of this night to set the record straight. âTis true, as a young girl Dusty ran away in early 1693, after being found not guilty of witchcraft. Because in fact she was a witch, like her mother, who wasnât so lucky and died at the hands of the Puritans. I had arrived in America from Ireland, with no family or friends. I met her shortly thereafter, we fell in love, and I asked her to be my wife. We were wed a fortnight later and drifted from place to place in what was then Massachusetts and settled in what is now Maine on this land. It looked different in my time.â

Dynamic Writing Duo M. Goldsmith & A. Malin Authors of The House of Fire

Give a warm welcome to M. Goldsmith and A. Malin authors of The House of Fire.  Pull up a chair, grab a drink of your choice from the cooler, a Chocolate Chip or Peanut Butter cookie from the plate, and let’s find out a little about Mel and Anita and The House of Fire. Powered by Fire. Consumed by Passion. Taken by Evil
Ashlyn Woods, Fire Guardian of Aether, never imagined she would be kidnapped by a doctor driven by obsession and greed. His nefarious plan includes harnessing Ashlynâs powers for profit and revenge. Consumed by unimaginable forces that draw him to her, it falls upon Hawk, the Protector, to rescue the tempestuous Fire Guardian. Their unrequited passion and an inexplicable magnetic pull wax and wane between the two. Ashlyn and Hawk, together, uncover a shared telepathic link they must tap into in order to bring her home safely. Soon they discover, by opening their hearts, the connection between them goes deeper than either of them ever imagined.Â
Ash curled herself into a tight ball on the bed and wrapped up in the scratchy blanket. If I ever get out of this place, Iâm going to proposition Hawk and tell him once and for all how I feel about him. Iâm going to tell him, I think about him night and day. How I long for him to hold me in his arms and to kiss me senseless. Now if only he could find me. Still feeling weak from the drugs, weariness overtook her, and she slept focusing her thoughts on Hawk.
Even in her sleep, Ashlyn could sense the air around her humming with energy. Her mind was consumed with Hawk, and she unwittingly connected to him. Reaching deep, her concentration intense, she begged him to help her. A feeling of warmth filled her, and her nose twitched when she caught a whiff of Hawkâs woodsy, masculine scent. Without warning the door to their link was suddenly slammed shut, and Hawk was forcibly ripped from her mind. Waking with a start, Ashlyn bolted upright.
âDear Goddess, I actually felt him!â she exclaimed, in shock. âBut how?â
Ash sensed the loss immediately. There had always been a connection with Hawk, but this was something altogether different, something stronger, something, much more. Hope flickered inside her. Now, if only she could do it again.

Blair Drake Author of Piper’s Quest
This was Hell, she just knew it. Sheâd been a terrible brat all her life, but she didnât think she deserved to go to Hell when she died. This has to be a mistake. But Hell sure had a nice bathroom, even with the stinking liquid on the floor. Sheâd be a good girl if only she could get out of Hell.
Looking the woman up and down, as the woman did the same to her, Piper marveled at her tiny waist, cinched in with a corset. She wore a black dress of a fine fabric Piper couldnât name, with red satin at her bust. And what a bust it was, with the flesh pushing out the top of the dress.
Piper watched the ladyâs red lips as she repeated, âPiper? Is that you?â
Afraid to speak, Piper nodded.
The woman grabbed her by the shoulders and turned her around. âLook at you. What a fine girl youâve grown into.â
Piperâs expression would be one of confusion, but she couldnât manage anything more than a blank stare.
âAre you okay? You look dazed.â The woman looked around Piper, toward the bathroom. âWhat were you doing in there? Your bum is wet.â
Piper finally found her tongue. âWho are you?â
The womanâs lips curled up at the corners. âYou are Piper Cavanaugh, arenât you? Cuz you sure look like her.â
âI thought we already established that.â Piper mentally slapped herself. She was supposed to start being good, so sheâd be moved up.
The woman opened her arms wide and Piper thought her boobs might spill out from the fabric. âIâm Aunt Winnie, sweetheart. Donât you remember me?â
Aunt Winnie? How would she remember her? It had been too many years since she last saw her, and that was only for a moment. They hadnât even talked.
âAunt Winnie? Where am I? And whatâs happened?â Piper looked around.
Winnie wrapped her arms around Piper and drew her in for a hug. âIâm so thrilled. I canât believe you finally came to visit. I thought for sure your mom was hiding the letters. And then when I tried to find you online, nothing. Honey, donât you even have a Facebook account?â
Piper shook her head. Winnie was happy to see her, and she knew she should be happy too, but she was too confused to be happy at the moment. âIâmâŚuhâŚâ
âCome. Sit.â Winnie led her to the upholstered booth of a restaurant table. âIâll explain what I can, or at least what I think happened.â
Piper sat on the aqua vinyl seat and scooted across to the middle of the booth. The wetness of her pants felt cold and made sliding across the vinyl feel sticky. She looked around and noticed she was in some kind of cafĂŠ with a beach theme.
âWhere am I?â She continued to look around without looking at Winnie, who slid into the seat across from her.
The place had fifteen booths, and a dozen stools at the counter. It looked like the â50s cafĂŠs sheâd seen in movies, except this one had deep sea fishing items on the walls, along with starfish, sand dollars, and hanging nets she assumed were for fishing, too.
âYouâre in my cafĂŠ.â Winnieâs chest raised as she said it.
âYou still have the cafĂŠ?â Piper remembered her mom talking about it.
From her momâs description, it was a rundown money pit not fit to eat in. Her mom couldnât be more wrong. The cafĂŠ felt like a breath of fresh air. Ocean air.
The aqua vinyl booth she sat in looked new. She could smell the fabric, almost like new car smell. The tables were covered in pristine white linen clothes with matching white linen napkins she assumed were wrapped around silverware. She reached forward to touch the violet flower in the lead crystal vase.
âThatâs a blue violet. It brings love and inspiration. But I keep them on the tables to protect my guests from all evil.â She plucked a flower and handed it to Piper. âCarry this for protection and good fortune.â
Piper accepted the flower. âThank you, itâs lovely.â She held it between her fingers, taking in the graduated colors of the five petals. She didnât want to put it down, but she tucked it in the breast pocket of her shirt.
âPress it between the pages of a large book when you get a chance. Then youâll be able to keep it forever. But do it soon, before it wilts.â A bell chimed behind her, and Winnieâs gaze moved to the door of the cafĂŠ.
Piper looked over her shoulder. When she did, she almost forgot she had a crazy morning.
The guy who just walked in the door looked like he was her age. His athletic build made her body warm, but it was his dark, brooding eyes she locked onto. And he looked back. The smell of salt air flowed in with the guy, and Piper breathed deeply.
âAaron,â Winnie said in a tight voice. âWhat can I do for you?â
Aaron, Piper thought. Yes, he looked like an Aaron. He looked like he could be anyone he wanted to be, and the girls probably hung on his every word, drooling over his strong facial features and muscular arms. She wondered what his tanned skin looked like under the knit sweater and canvas vest he wore.
âHank said he called in an order and asked me to pick it up.â Aaron shoved his hands in his pockets and smiled at Piper.
âIâll be right back, honey. Hang tight, and Iâll explain everything.â Winnie jumped up from the booth like sheâd been stung. Her stride looked broken, like she was fighting something as she disappeared into the kitchen of her cafĂŠ.
Not wanting to be obvious with her interest, Piper turned away from Aaron and looked out the window.
From her vantage point, she saw the cafĂŠ sat at the end of a wharf of some sort. Aunt Winnie lived near the water? Did she live on the island, and somehow the winds blew Piper to her cafĂŠ? No, wait, sheâd landed in the bathroom. She cringed at the thought of what was on her pants, and what might have been on her hands. She really hoped it was just water.
She felt the air move behind her, and when she turned around, Aaron stood so close she could reach out and touch him. He smelled sweet and salty, with a hint of ash.
âI thought I knew every pretty girl in town. I havenât seen you before.â His wide smile was infectious.
It took Piper a second to break her gaze from his eyes and find her manners. âOh, hi, Iâm not from here. And I just got here. Iâm Piper Cavanaugh.â She reached out to shake his hand.
Her entire body felt the jolt as he took her hand in his. It wasnât the âlove at first sightâ kind of jolt like she read about in romance novels. This was an overpowering energy disappearing as soon as he let go of her hand.
âAaron Payne. Iâve lived here forever, so if you need to know anything, Iâm your guy.â
Winnie reappeared with a white bag. âYouâre not anyoneâs guy for anything here.â She shoved the bag of food at him. âNow run along before the food gets cold.â
Aaron didnât even look back at Piper as Winnie practically shoved him out the door.
When she came back to the table, she sat again. âThere are much better people to get your information from. Aaron is trouble.â
