Cover Reveal for An Angel’s Song!

SharonSaracinoToday I have another treat for you.  This one from author Sharon Saracino.  The cover reveal for An Angel’s Song, a paranormal romance, fourth in the Earthbound Series.

Award winning author, Sharon Saracino, was born and raised in beautiful Northeastern Pennsylvania. Always the girl with her nose in a book, and frequently announced that someday she was going to write a one. One milestone birthday (we won’t discuss which one!) she decided someday would be here and gone if she didn’t get her butt in gear.  She plans to win the lottery just as soon as she remembers to purchase a ticket,  fantasizes about moving to Italy, brews limoncello, and believes there’s always magic to be found if you only take the time to look for it!

I convinced her to give us a sneak peek of An Angel’s Song even though she is still waiting on a release date for the book:AnAngelsSong_w11085_med

After ten years of separation, Tessa and Alec are called to the deathbed of Tessa’s father and tasked with solving a mystery that points to WWII, the Nazi régime, and the shadowy world of the Djinn. Although their passion still burns, forgiveness requires more than desire.

Alec, the Riddle King to the Defensori, is used to shutting out the world and working on his puzzles alone. But this time, he can’t shut Tessa out. This time, he needs his estranged wife’s help. Tessa and her gift hold the key, and failure could cost her sanity…or her life.

Insecurity, immaturity, and misunderstanding drove them apart. Can they rebuild their shattered trust and work together to rescue a captive Djinni, stay one step ahead of the servants of the Fallen, and save their marriage along with Tessa’s life?

How about an Excerpt?

“Tessa…” he stepped toward her and held out a hand.

“Don’t you touch me,” she warned, taking a quick step back, eyeing him warily.

Okay, so maybe he’d been an oblivious jackass. Hardly the first time, but maybe it showed progress if he’d noticed without someone else pointing it out?

“Look, I could have warned you, but frankly it just never occurred to me. You’ve had a long night, and you’re tired and hurting. I get it. I’m not happy about this, but believe it or not, I really am trying to help. I’m not the bad guy here.”

“Meaning I am?” She spat, stepping right up toe to toe, crossing her arms over her chest, and craning her neck to look directly into his face. “I fly thousands of miles, watch my father die, and then, before I can even process what that means, I am grabbed by you, of all people, and spirited off against my will without so much as a by-your-leave. And you have the audacity to stand there and tell me you’re not happy about this?”

Alec decided he definitely preferred angry Tessa. Her eyes deepened to the swirling blue of an angry sea and her chest heaved, straining the buttons of the wrinkled white blouse and thrusting her high breasts against the thin fabric. With her bright eyes snapping, red-gold curls tumbling over her shoulders, and her cheeks hot and flushed, pissed or not, she was freakin’ magnificent.

TItle, Cover and Release Date Reveal for Beast of All by JC McKenzie

Today I have a treat for you from author JC McKenzie.  Title, Cover and Release Date forView More: http://photos.pass.us/headshot2 Beast of All. A Carus Novel, Book 5.

I convinced her to give us a sneak peek of Beast of All:

Beast of All cover“Two months ago my world collapsed and the beast reigned. Seven weeks ago the SRD captured me. Nine days ago, they injected me with something vile. Today, I break free. And tomorrow? I’ll make them pay.”

Badass Shifter Andy McNeilly wakes up from a horrible nightmare, only to discover it wasn’t a dream, and she’s no longer quite so badass. Chemically curbed, Andy has lost touch with her feras and beast when she needs them most. Can she regain control of her supernatural abilities in time to reap retribution from her enemies, or will she fall as fodder in a power play for control of Vancouver’s seedy underworld?

I wheedled an excerpt for Beast of All out of her too! Just for you.  Enjoy!

No feras. No beast. Whatever they shot me with blocked my communication with the animals. Did it prevent shifting as well? I squeezed my eyes shut and tried to call a form and change. Only a headache answered. Dread flittered across my skin. Was this permanent?
As the Carus, the genetic throwback to the first demi-god progeny of the beast goddess, I caged a beast with rage and power rivaled by few, and possessed more than one animal familiar to shift into.
At least, I did until the SRD shot me full of chemicals. Would I ever regain my abilities? Hear the indignant screech of the peregrine falcon? Or the lusty purr of the mountain lion? Or soulful howl of the wolf?
My heart hammered, punching bone. A buzzing sensation filled my head. The “wrongness” of my condition grated against my nerves, slicing them into slivers like a planer shucking off wood shavings.
Something in my abdomen swelled, as if the beast pushed against whatever barrier caged and hid her from me.
I’ll get you out, I told her, not knowing if she could hear. We’ll make them pay.

Release Date: October 19, 2016

Kindle Scout A New Experience for Author L.A. Kelley

View 6 BWToday we have something new.  Welcome, L.A. Kelley in a quest to get a contract for her book, Rimrider, through Kindle Scout.  I love the cover! Now I have no idea how this works so, L.A. won’t you tell us a little about yourself first, then about Kindle Scout?

I’m a fantasy/science fiction indy writer with five published books with a small press and a book now a Kindle Scout nominee. I live in Florida, slathered in sunscreen, and prefer air-conditioned comfort to heat and humidity. On the plus side, my skin will never look like badly laid roofing shingles. Here are my lurking spots if you care to lurk with me:

Facebook: www.facebook.com/l.a.kelley.author

Twitter: @AuthorLAKelley

http://lakelleythenaughtylist.blogspot.com

Now, what the heck is Kindle Scout?

A few short years ago, Amazon launched a venture for new, never-before-published books where readers helpRimrider Cover lakelley-72dpi-1500x2000-4 decide a contract. Selected novels are published by Kindle Press and receive 5-year renewable terms, a $1,500 advance, 50% eBook royalty rate, rights reversions and featured Amazon marketing. The marketing part is a huge appeal. It’s the curse of most authors’ existence (I spit on you, hateful marketing gods!) Having Amazon shoulder the burden is a major plus.

If a book is approved, the author receives a preview link to check the data submitted along with the Kindle Scout campaign launch date. All campaigns last 30 days. The more nominations a book receives the more likely it will get the attention of the Kindle Scout team and be selected for publication.

Will the requirements make my head hurt?

Nope. Submissions are taken all year long and eligibility standards are simple. The manuscript must be submitted in English and be 50,000 words or more. Authors must be 18 years of age or older, have a valid Amazon account, and reside in a Kindle Scout–eligible country. Five categories are available: Romance, Mystery & Thriller, Science Fiction & Fantasy, Teen & Young Adult, and general Literature & Fiction.

Any downside with Kindle Scout for the author?

Isn’t there always? The author is responsible for the book’s cover art. It must look professional, be ready to go when the manuscript is submitted, and satisfy Amazon’s specifications. Unless you’re a professional graphic designer, you’ll have to shell out money for an artist. The manuscript should also be professionally edited, free of typos and grammar errors. Paying for a good editor is a must. Kindle Scout doesn’t offer hardcovers or paperbacks, so if an author wants something to hold in his or her hot little hand, the printing cost are shouldered alone. For some, the lack of marketing decisions can be irksome. Amazon has total control. An author can’t run a 99 cent sale or post the first book in a series for free to drum up interest in the rest. Finally, the terms of the contract state that the book will only be available on Amazon, so bye-bye Barnes and Noble, any other site, and all ereaders who can’t open a MOBI file.

What’s the benefit to the reader?

You’re allowed to vote for three nominations. If your choice is a winner, Amazon will send a free copy of the ebook upon publication. No muss. No fuss. The only cost was a few minutes of your time to check out the book. You also get to proudly strut around the room and brag to others about supporting indy writers.

Be honest. Do you think you really have a shot?

Let’s put it this way…Amazon labels the popular Kindle Scout nominations in the smoking hot category. Even as a teenager I was only found in the dorky and peculiar category. The odds aren’t great, but if you don’t try, you can’t succeed. That being said I would great appreciate a vote for Rimrider by L. A. Kelley. It’s a science fiction space opera about a teenage girl who becomes a space pirate. Imagine the American Revolution with Earth as the redcoats and the colony planets as Yankee rebels and you get the idea. Intrigued? Click on the link and heartfelt thanks for taking a peek.

Thanks for stopping by L.A.  I wish you the best of luck with the Kindle Scout Program!

Camping is Over the Holidays Are Here – No Place to Hide

Camping season is over, the fifth wheel is all sung in its storage space under it’s cover until next summer.  Well, really early spring, I hope, weather permitting.

The holidays are careening towards us, with Thanksgiving just passed with Christmas on its bumper only a few weeks away.  I did survive Gray Thursday, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but barely.  Yes, my Christmas shopping is all done, no thanks to the aforementioned shopping days. 106_0687 Rather than brave the crowds, I hid in my house under mounds of Christmas decorations, deciding which ones went up first, the outside or the inside. And did all the lights still work?  I stood knee deep in strands of lights and threw up my hands. Decided the weather was much too nice, grabbed my husband, dog and parrot and went for a glorious walk. To my chagrin, the elves didn’t put up the decorations, so we did it ourselves.

With the decorating chore behind us, we can concentrate on enjoying the holidays with friends and family, then try to  relax.  Okay, only kidding about the relaxing.  Still Christmas light looking and cooking to do, a group Christmas letter to write to be included in Christmas Cards that will delight.

To everyone who read my blog this year, Thank You! I wish you all a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a very prosperous  New Year!  Join me next year for more camping adventures and a new experience as I scamper through the path of traditional publishing.  My first book, a paranormal romance, is due out in 2015. I will keep you apprised of my progress and a more definite release date.  BE SAFE AND ENJOY THIS HOLIDAY SEASON!  I look forward to hearing from you next year!
