Sneak peek between the pages of Mystic Maples: The Deerbourne Inn Series

It was a beautiful summer evening lit by a full moon. What harm could come from simply popping over to Mystic Maples, digging my toes into the earth and see if there is any truth to the rumors? She shrugged. Sis wouldn’t have told me about it, if she hadn’t thought it worth investigating. Right?

She toed off her shoes, pulled off her socks and straightened. With a snap of her fingers she left the room without a sound and landed smack dab at the edge of the maple trees. Glancing around, she could see the house in the distance and the outline of the sign. “Good, I’m in the right place.”  She wandered farther in among the trees, the dirt beneath her feet was cool. Wiggling her toes deeper into the earth, she felt the warmth of the day and something else—a connection.

Several trees had a slight glow to them, then it was gone. Am I imagining…She raised her arms out from her sides and turned her face to the starlit sky letting the magic surge through her.  It had been almost a year since magic of any kind called to her. It felt so good, she was lost in the moment.

Suddenly a male voice broke through her revelry. “What are you doing here?”

Her heart thundered in her chest. She hadn’t heard a sound. Yet, there he was standing not three feet from her, hands on hips, and glaring at her.

Her heart thundered in her chest. She hadn’t heard a sound. Yet there he was standing not three feet from her, hands on hips, and glaring at her. The aura around him flashed red. Not good. Saving grace at the moment was the calm Caribbean ocean blue simmering below the rage red—what’s this—a spark of magic? Where’d that come from? He’s no witch or… Once again her insatiable curiosity overwhelmed her good sense.

A little about An Angel’s Wylder Assignment:

Warrior Angel Killian Dugan’s annual trip to the family castle in Scotland is shattered by the arrival of Legion Commander North. Killian’s skills are needed for an urgent time travel assignment. A rogue demon has escaped back in time. He must discover the why and where and stop the demon before it can damage the past and change the future.

Killian’s girlfriend Chinoah Grace, a Native American shapeshifter is included in the mission which takes them to the wild west town of Wylder, Wyoming in the year 1878. She will have her hands full fitting in and making friends.

Nothing is as it seems.  They encounter visions, spirit quests, and a mysterious shaman.  On top of it all, blending in as a blacksmith is more physically difficult than he imagined. But not as challenging as keeping his hands off his undercover wife. Will they complete their assignment or run out of time?

A new peek between the pages of An Angel’s Wylder Assignment: New Hook

Rather than dispute Nat with the need or permission to carry weapons, Killian had simply slid his jewel-encrusted, magic-infused sword in its scabbard and slung it across his back. Slipping his dagger into its sheath at his ankle, he also holstered his gun at his other ankle, straightened, and shrugged into his black leather duster. The wrist arrows and other warrior weapons were sewn into the coat’s lining. After all, he was a warrior angel and must have his tools of the trade. He smirked.

Chinoah stood wide-eyed at his cache of weapons. “And I got scolded packing unapproved clothing. Do you have any idea what your commander would do if he—”

“Sure enough. Notice I waited until he left. You’re the one that chose the jeans battle with him.” He shifted one shoulder nonchalantly. “Learning curve to pick your battles.” A low chuckle rose from his throat. “Besides, he’d never ask a warrior going into battle to leave the tools of his trade behind.”

“A little advance warning would have been nice.” She crossed her arms across her chest defiantly.

“Prep time was a luxury we didn’t have when this assignment was dumped on us. Wouldn’t you say? Nat had us at a disadvantage and he knew it.”

As if the words just sunk in, she blanched. “We’re not—you’re not—really going into battle. Right?”

“No way to know until we get there. Demons are not known for their negotiation skills. The Riverton skirmish is a prime example of their single-mindedness.”

“But that was a build-up of theft, deceit, and trickery by a tribe member acting as the River Winds Casino manager who was driven by power, greed, and jealousy. Ethan played into the hands of the manipulative demons. He was outmaneuvered from the beginning. In the end, he got what he deserved.”

“That‘s how it works. Evil prays on the unsuspecting. In our case, we’ll have our ducks in a row long before flushing the demon out in the open and forcing him to show us his hand. Enough of this. As Nat said, we are burning daylight.”

They waved goodbye to their friends and slipped out the back door. It was a bit of a walk to the Mists, but porting in broad daylight wouldn’t be wise.

As they walked through the eerie Scottish Mists, the silence wrapped around them like a smothering blanket. A stand of druid stones emerged from the thick fog towering above them. Chinoah shivered against him. Magic rolled of the stones in warning.

With the image of the 1878 blacksmith shop in his head and whispering spirits in his mind, their adventure began. His hands tightly wrapped around Chinoah, their duffels secured on their backs. He closed his eyes and focused his vision on Wylder, Wyoming Territory of 1878 inside Dugan’s Blacksmith shop. This was his first mistake. He was unsure of the blacksmith shop’s interior, as he’d never seen it.

Instead, they are unceremoniously dumped, what he hoped was only several yards outside the shop, in the worst blizzard he’d ever seen. He tightened his grip on Chinoah. Guess I paid too much attention to the description of the building itself and let that disrupt my landing location.  The wind-driven snow swirled around them, making visibility difficult if not impossible. A large dark mass faded in and out of the sheets of snow not far from them.

A new peek between the pages of An Angel’s Wylder Assignment:

He turned his attention out the window where the snow swirled in the howling wind. “Besides, who in bloody hell would be calling at this time of night and in this weather?”

She raised an eyebrow and shrugged. “Only one group of individuals I know.”

“Oh, no. I’m on leave. They didn’t know where I was going. Besides, they wouldn’t expect me to be here.” The ancient wooden door groaned then made a squeeing sound when Killian yanked it open. “What in tarnation are you doing here?”

Chinoah stood on tiptoe and stepped to the side to see who was at the door. “Angels always know. At least that’s what you tell me,” she whispered against his ear.

He shot her a warning glance and turned his attention to the situation at hand.

“Nice to see you too.” Warrior Legion Commander Nathanial North stood on the stoop with Sean, two of his warrior angels, and Caden, who was now a liaison to the legion rather than a warrior, due to injuries.

At first, Killian held tight to the door. “So am I to assume this is not a social visit?” Large wet snowflakes swirled around the visitors and into the doorway.

“If you let us in, I’ll tell you the reason for our visit.”  Nat glanced up at the snow drifting over his warriors.

“Oh, of course.” He grudgingly stepped back, gently moving Chinoah over, and allowed the warriors to enter. “Can I get you something? Coffee?”

“I’ve cinnamon rolls frozen. Only take a few minutes to thaw and warm them up?” Chinoah offered, turning toward the kitchen.

“We’d appreciate your offerings. It’s damn cold out there.” Nat extended his hand.

He hesitantly took his offered hand. “Don’t make me sorry I let you guys in. I’m on holiday for part of November and the entire month of December.  Planning on spending the holidays with my cousin and his family.”

Nat frowned and pursed his lips. “You may have to adjust your plans.”

“Aww shit. I knew it. The problem is that my cousin won’t be back for three weeks. I promised to take care of the castle while he’s gone. It’s an arrangement we have every year. Lowers my stress and keeps me from ending up like Caden.” He couldn’t help adding the little jab. Caden was a liaison to the legion due to what boiled down to PTSD angel style during a dark demon battle.

“This year I was planning on spending the holidays with Tavish’s family.” Killian reluctantly motioned the group of men to have a seat in the room facing the huge stone fireplace. “Can’t it wait until after the holidays?”

“I’m afraid not. Caden and Mystic have offered to take your place here at your cousin’s home. Your assignment can’t wait.” Nat grimaced.

He huffed out a breath. “How bad is it?”

Charm Me Again – Sunday Snippets

Welcome to Sunday Snippets.  Each week I’ll spot light one of my books, tell you what’s special about it, and highlight an excerpt. Join me each week for this fun adventure. This week its the award winning Charm Me Again sequel to Charm Me a fun and flirty Valentine tale. Charm Me again is a bit darker. Two families long divided brought together through an adventure of a lifetime. Breaking the curse is only the first step to forever.

I love all my books, but Charm Me Again is one of my favorites.  Can he break the age old curse to save her and their future, or will she be lost to him forever? AND it available in audiobook! Yep this book as it all.  So lets take a peek into Charm Me Again!

For several months a Scottish Highland Ghost has haunted Daylan, in his personal life, his professional life and at his forge. Yet, being a talented warlock, he is no closer to discovering what the ghost wants or why he chose Daylan. A trip to his estranged sister’s home in Colorado may have unforeseen consequences especially when family history leads him to a shocking discovery.

As his attraction blooms for Josie, a yoga instructor in his sister’s studio, he realizes there may be more to Josie than he can imagine. When an ancient rogue Fae Warrior set on revenge kidnaps her in an attempt to claim her as his own, a devastating curse comes to light.

Daylan’s world spirals out of control as he searches for Josie. Can he break the age old curse to save her and their future, or will she be lost to him forever?

A peek between the pages of Charm Me Again.

She padded over to the window and opened it a crack. The fresh air on her skin was cool. It relieved the smothering feeling that came over her the minute Daylan left the room. Taking a cleansing breath, she braced her hands against the window frame and took another deep calming breath.

Moonlight flooded inside with a light breeze. There it was again, that pull. Something was drawing her outside. Warning bells went off inside her head. Don’t do it. Don’t do it. Despite her fear, the desire to go outside was overwhelming.

The security alarm started counting down and she quickly closed the window. Shit. No way out. Unless…There is was again, she had to get outside.

The powerful urge had her pickup her backpack, slip out the window, skitter cross the roof to the corner of the building and shimmy down. It was like she had no control over her own movements. Her brain screamed for control—to no avail then she was sprinting to her vehicle in the parking lot. Carefully she opened the door, climbed in, started the engine and slowly pulled out of the parking lot onto the street and floored it.

Suddenly a cold clammy hand closed around her throat. Nails dug into her neck. “Take a right here. Pull into the driveway and stop. Don’t turn around.”

Finally, self-preservation took over. Releasing the steering wheel, she clawed at the hand closing off her oxygen, and opened her mouth to scream. Nothing came out. Then everything when black.

Next week, stop in and find out what magical adventure I have in store for you.
