#L&SR’s #Wednesday’s Blog Challenge 2-19-2020 Types of Exercise I Enjoy.

Welcome to #L&SR’s #Wednesday’s Blog Challenge 2-19-2020 Types of Exercise I Enjoy.  Wow, that’s a tough one. First of all I hate any type of exercise in a gym. I admit I’m forced to exercise in my home gym in inclement weather (Been a lot of that this year.  As I write this we have 8 inches of snow and it’s still falling. But outdoors in decent weather is a different story. Sit down, grab a hot chocolate and chocolate chip cookie. Lets get started.,

Okay here is a list of Types of Exercise I Enjoy in no particular order.

Kayaking, The serenity of the smooth lake water, the wildlife frolicking along the banks renews your spirit.

Hiking, the beauty of nature beckons on the mountain trails with twittering birds, scurrying squirrels, and graceful deer, elk or moose.

Biking zipping around on trails or streets in my neighborhood, wind in my hair, parrot in a specially designed back pack and dog in a trailer towed behind my bike, fun is had by all.

White Water Rafting, now that gets the Adrenalin flowing, heart pumping, and its an exhilarating experience.

Finally, the Neighborhood Walk, many a time I’ve worked out a plot problem, or a new story is born. Maybe even an additional sub-plot I didn’t know was needed. It’s relaxing and gets your heart pumping all at the same time, depending on your pace.

Most of the activities (except white-water rafting)are with my hubby, Mystic our dog  and/or Taco our parrot.

Yep, that’s me in the background. Kayaking on Lake Powell. Hubby and Mystic in front

Can’t see me for the water but I’m the second from the front left side (orange helmet).

Hiking across the Sand Dunes, Colorado – Yeah, my shoes got wet in the river. Besides who doesn’t like the feel of warm sand between your toes?

Met these guys on a hike in Rocky Mountain National Park.

I could go on and on, but the above will give you an idea of my preferences for exercise.

Alas, I must return to my writing cave where deadlines loom, so let’s see what other authors list as Exercise They Enjoy. L&SR

Favorite Things to do in the Summer #L&SR #Wednesday Blog Challenge 6.19.19

Favorite Things to do in the Summer – Wow so many choices!  Here are a few of mine.

The first of April, we de-winterize our fifth wheel trailer preparing to go camping throughout the spring, summer and fall. Recently we purchased a new fifth wheel that is roomy and so much fun! We have traveled and camped over three-quarters of the United States. The North-East is still on our bucket list. LOL  Salem Massachusetts in October, Halloween to be exact, is at the top. Anyway, left is the picture if of our truck and trailer this year in Lake Tahoe, Zephyr Cove campground.

Kayaking is a blast and another of my favorite summer activities.  We have our own kayaks and our dog, Mystic, loves to accompany us. (right)  We also like to White Water Raft. A few years ago we actually rafted though the Royal Gorge in Canon City, Colorado.  That was a blast.  Yes, the picture to your right is our actually group.

Camping gives me time to read and relax at scenic locations. Which is another of my favorite things to do anytime, but during the summer, at the beach, campground or in the backyard is fantastic.

During the summer, I also enjoy working in my veggie or flower gardens.

Another favorite activity in the summer or really anytime is taking my dog for a walk around the neighborhood or in some of the regional parks. I also have a backpack carrier for my parrot, Taco. She enjoys the hikes also. Living in Colorado gives you a vast array of places to hike, picnic and camp which are all fun and exciting activities to participate in during the summer months!

Well there you have it. My Favorite Things to do in Summer. Now this isn’t to say these are the only things. But, I need to get back to my WIP, so let’s see what the other authors in this blog challenge claim as their Favorite Things to do in Summer: L&SR

Pssst… While you’re here, don’t forget to check out my paranormal romance/mysteries click here. 99¢ SALE A Magic Redemption! Download your copy today!

See you next week when I list my favorite  Humorous Book Titles (and boy to I have some doozies). See you then!

Camping Season is Here! Have You Made Reservations?

Welcome to the Spring ‘Tastic Blog Tour. Thanks for stopping by! At the bottom of this post are links for visiting the other blogs and info on the grand prize.  So sit back and learn why you should be camping!

It’s here, finally here. I’ve looked forward all winter to packing up the fifth wheel and camping!  Yes, we have to de-winterize it first, details, details. LOL I love the scent of a campfire, roasting marshmallows, s’mores, and steaks cooked on an open campfire are the best.  Don’t you think?

Hiking, kayaking, relaxing, unwinding from the daily routine of life and napping, oh yes, napping is a must when camping. The fresh mountain air wafting over you in the comfy lounge chair in front of the fifth wheel, trailer or tent, nothing better.  Relaxing with a good book after a nice hike is a great way to hit the reset button on the stressors in your world.  Many an idea for my books I attribute to camping trips.  What do I write? Paranormal Romance, thanks for asking. My fifth book, A Warlock’s Secrets releases June 14, 2017, it’s second in the Demon’s Witch Series, and one you’ll want to take camping. For a list of all my books, click here.   Now back to your regularly scheduled post.

Sleep may come a little easier in the fresh mountain air and under the starry skies.  A new report from the University of Colorado (yep, I live in Colorado) backs up what I’ve known all along. Camping is good for you!  Even a weekend trip, can make a difference in the rise and fall of the hormone melatonin which regulates our biological clock. Couple that with spending quality time with family, friends and pets (yep, our dog, parrot, and box turtle go camping too) and you have a recipe for recharging your mental and physical batteries.  We spend our weekends camping as often as possible from spring through fall, when the honey-do list allows. Heck, sometimes when it doesn’t. LOL

According to Kenneth P. Wright, a sleep researcher and author of a study published in the journal Cell, “Living in our modern environments can significantly delay our circadian timing, and late circadian timing is associated with many health consequences.” Gotta go camping for my health!

Okay, enough with the scientific stuff. I’ve given you plenty of reasons to get out there and enjoy nature. What are you waiting for?  Fresh mountain air, wildlife, kayaking, hiking & biking trails are calling you.

Where you ask? Let’s start with the fantastic National Parks,  https://www.nps.gov/index.htm. Rocky Mountain National is a favorite of ours as are Yellowstone, Glacier, Yosemite and several others. Then you have the wonderful Colorado State Parks, http://cpw.state.co.us/   Steamboat Lake, Pearl Lake, Cheyenne Mountain State Park, and Mueller State Park are just a few of our favorites.  Come play outside and take a gook book with you!

Here is a sneak peek at my upcoming book, A Warlock’s Secrets, releasing June 14th, second book in Demon’s Witch Series.

Years ago a sacred ceremony at the Dragon’s Moon Coven, turned deadly. Son of the high priestess, Tristian Shandie’s life changed forever. With a price on his head and revenge in his heart, he has no choice but to follow in his father’s footsteps to a profession shrouded in secrets. Now his skills as an enforcer for the Demon Overlord are second to none. But dangerous secrets he harbors are a liability he can no longer afford.

A chance meeting with a woman he finds irresistible flips Tristian’s world upside down. Hannah is a cyber security specialist with secrets of her own. Bad boys never appealed to her until Tristian, who changes everything. In his darkest hours she is dragged into his magical world. If they survive, is she strong enough to heal his heart and tame the warlock? Or will their secrets destroy them?

If you haven’t read the book that started it all, A Demon’s Witch, its available at Amazon.com, KoboThe Wild Rose Press. and Barnes & Noble. Then watch for A Warlock’s Secrets, June 14th, pre-orders coming soon!

Lake Vallecito – A Slice of Paradise

TWRP BLog hop banner July 2016

View as we left the campground

I have been MIA for ten glorious days, along with my husband and friends from Las Vegas.  Unplugged at the 5 Branches Camper Park, best kept secret on the shores of Lake Vallecito in Bayfield, Colorado.  It’s near Durango in the San Juan mountains.  A great camping destination I highly recommend. They serve a great breakfast on Saturday mornings. There are RV sites as well as wonderful tent sites, if you prefer roughing it.  Which I don’t. Video taken from beside our campsite.

During the day, we hiked, kayaked, mountain biked and sat around along with our chow, Mystic, and parrot, Taco watching the humming birds devour our homemadesmall gr humming birds 725A1270 nectar at the feeder (raw sugar is the secret)   Evenings we spent around a crackling campfire staring at the stars (we saw several shooting stars, yep made wishes) and eating s’mors or a slice of dump cake. No internet or very little connection, so the outside world was held at bay, for the most part.

I had to resort to writing my work in progress with a pen and notebook.  How archaic. But it resulted in several pages I’m very pleased with. Yea!  Now back at my computer, I type in the new sections and the creativity continues to flow. That’s a good thing!

Returning to civilization was a shock to the system, I wouldn’t have predicted.  On our way back home, in heavy traffic, I might add, we stopped at The Malt Shop in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. The crowd inside seemed stifling, but it could have been the heat. I have to say, the food was delicious and the chocolate shake was out of this world. We got our meal to go and ate lunch in the cool, quiet of our truck.

After temps in the 80’s and a cool breeze off the lake, ninety-five degrees was stupid hot, to coin a phrase a good friend from Las Vegas, Nevada uses when the temperatures rise above 100.  Heat rose from the pavement in waves, vehicles and voices seemed louder, all adding to my discomfort.  Isn’t it funny how ten days of peace and quiet can make your return to civilization and the hectic life we lead seem almost unbearable. Okay, I am exaggerating, I’m a fiction writer what do you expect, but not embellishing by much.

IMG_2040Back home sitting at my computer, I sift through the e-mails numbering in the hundreds (I did address them a couple times while we were in Durango, picking up supplies.); my twitter account blew up, the tweets overwhelming, edits due on my holiday book, and the deadline on my work in progress looms large.  Was the ten days off worth it? You betcha! Our dog and parrot loved the vacation too.

Now back to the dump cake.  Have you ever had one?  They are fantastic and so easy.  I’ll have a recipe for a chocolate cherry dump cake in next week’s blog part of The Wild Rose Summer Treats and Reads Blog Hop. Did I mention there will be prizes? Don’t miss it.  Until then, you can find me chained to my computer in an attempt to catch up.  Have a great week!
