Favorite Things to do in the Summer #L&SR #Wednesday Blog Challenge 6.19.19

Favorite Things to do in the Summer – Wow so many choices!  Here are a few of mine.

The first of April, we de-winterize our fifth wheel trailer preparing to go camping throughout the spring, summer and fall. Recently we purchased a new fifth wheel that is roomy and so much fun! We have traveled and camped over three-quarters of the United States. The North-East is still on our bucket list. LOL  Salem Massachusetts in October, Halloween to be exact, is at the top. Anyway, left is the picture if of our truck and trailer this year in Lake Tahoe, Zephyr Cove campground.

Kayaking is a blast and another of my favorite summer activities.  We have our own kayaks and our dog, Mystic, loves to accompany us. (right)  We also like to White Water Raft. A few years ago we actually rafted though the Royal Gorge in Canon City, Colorado.  That was a blast.  Yes, the picture to your right is our actually group.

Camping gives me time to read and relax at scenic locations. Which is another of my favorite things to do anytime, but during the summer, at the beach, campground or in the backyard is fantastic.

During the summer, I also enjoy working in my veggie or flower gardens.

Another favorite activity in the summer or really anytime is taking my dog for a walk around the neighborhood or in some of the regional parks. I also have a backpack carrier for my parrot, Taco. She enjoys the hikes also. Living in Colorado gives you a vast array of places to hike, picnic and camp which are all fun and exciting activities to participate in during the summer months!

Well there you have it. My Favorite Things to do in Summer. Now this isn’t to say these are the only things. But, I need to get back to my WIP, so let’s see what the other authors in this blog challenge claim as their Favorite Things to do in Summer: L&SR

Whoa! I want to go camping and kayaking with you. (Yes, I’m kidding. But it does look like a lot of fun! 🙂 )

How long have you been taking Taco on hikes/walks? I’d never think to do that with a parrot, but I’m glad she likes it so much.

    My post.

    • Taco has been a member of our family for 21 years and she’s hiked, and camped with us always. She is the original adventure parrot! LOL Camping and kayaking is a lot of fun, you should try it! Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy your summer.

Loved reading your blog, Tena. We have so much in common. I also love camping and kayaking. We’ll have to arrange to meet in some remote campground. Would be fun.

  • Michael Mock says:

That all looks like loads of fun! (A lot of it is stuff I used to enjoy doing, but just haven’t been doing enough of recently…)

  • Amy says:

Kyaking would be so much fun! Unfortunately, my dad had a very warped sense of humor and soured me on ever enjoying camping. Hahaha. But if I had a fifth wheel, I could camp in style. LOL

  • Sounds like you have a busy summer to look forward to! Your flowers are gorgeous, Tena. Have a great summer.

We sold our camper this spring. Decided we would try finding cabins we liked BUT…I already miss camping. I loved it so much. Even just walking in the camper is being “away”. I also love to go walking with my pooch although I now have a 10 month old puppy and my walking is sort of pulling back on Buddy, my puppy. We’ll get there though. Have a wonderful time camping.

    • Tena Stetler says:

Thanks Kathy. I remember when walking a puppy was being pulled along or tangled up in the leash. Enjoy the puppy, they grow up so fast! Love camping. Glad you stopped by!

  • Though juggling writing from home WITH energetic kids at home is a struggle in the summer, I do enjoy the outdoor excursions (granted, we go all seasons but summer is easiest!). Kayaking, camping, pool and beach, hiking galore, biking, nature walks… 🙂

Goodness, it sounds as if you have so much fun in the summer!!

I love the outdoors, but honestly, I’m no longer the tent-camping, kayaking kind of gal. Used to be, but these days, it doesn’t take much to get my allergies going. I grew up in the country and roamed afar on long summer afternoons with my friends. I do miss those days. I remember the summer after seventh grade—a friend and I sitting on a blanket under a huge oak tree in my yard, co-writing a suspense short story. It was gory as all get-out. Fortunately, there were a hero and heroine who made it through the danger. We thought it was a grand story. LOL. Ah, the innocence of the young-

Have a great time on your adventures!!

    • Tena says:

Thank you Barb! Ahh the exuberance of youth. Camping to us in now a 5th wheel with all the comforts and safety of home.No more tent camping, all though we did our share. Still enjoy kayaking. Even just floating on a calm lake watching the wildlife is so much fun! Glad you stopped by.
