Pull up a chair, grab a drink of your choice from the cooler, a Chocolate Chip or Peanut Butter cookie from the plate, and let’s find out a little about Marie Dry and her Alien Captured.

What inspired this particular story? I have no idea. Some stories I can pinpoint exactly where it came from but this one jumped into my mind out of nowhere.

Why do you write what you write?  Contemporary, paranormal,  suspense, etc. The characters that come to me decide where they fit. Including Alien Captured I have six science fiction romances with Dawn of the Cyborg that I handed in to the publisher that makes seven. But I also have a steampunk trilogy, a paranormal trilogy, a few contemporaries, a historical in various stages of completion.

Why did you choose the cover concept you did? I chose the stock photo picture but went with the suggestion of the cover artist for the rest.

Why should we read this book/series and what sets you apart from the rest and makes your book/series unique? The cultural differences between the aliens and humans are explored and the readers always tell me they enjoy the humor.

Who would you recommend this book to and what should readers be aware of before reading it? Romance readers and scifi romance readers. I cannot think of something that would be a trigger but people and the experiences they had differ. What I consider without triggers others might find upsetting.

Tell us something about yourself and allow us to get to know you. I have lived in Zambia, Morocco and Spain and love travelling and I love eating though I don’t cook and I do think I lose out on a lot of the culture of a country I live in by not cooking. I try to make up for that with the eating part. I love to go to the movies and to read and do yoga and walk every day. My absolute favorite thing is to spend time writing.

You’ve got a time machine, a cloak of invisibility, and one hour. Where would you go, and what eavesdropping would you do? I’d go a century into the future and see what it looked like and then I’d want to see what kind of romance books are popular in that time.

Who is your favorite character of all of the books you’ve written and Why? It was Azagor but now that I’m working on Alien Redeemed and I’m getting to know The Zyrgin he is holding that spot.

What do you want your readers to take away from your books? I want them to laugh and cry and experience my characters the way I did when I wrote them.

Where do your story ideas come from? If they come to you in the middle of the night, do you get up and write them all down? I get ideas all the time. I walk around with a note book and jot it down as much as I can. When I do manage to fall asleep I’m gone until the next day. No notemaking.

What’s your favorite part of being an author? Getting that first idea, then getting it down, then refining it, then editing it and then getting it back for edits and then holding the book in my hand and then hearing from readers who enjoyed it.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why? Telekenesis and the ability to do many things at ones. I’d write several books while I watched a movie.

Now tell us about Alien Captured.

It all went horribly wrong! Instead of her capturing an alien and selling him for enough credits to help her find her baby, the arrogant know it all alien took her dog hostage and now demanded she sponge him down. All over. And time was ticking for her baby.

A sneak peek between the pages of Alien Captured.

“What if the resistance doesn’t believe you have a Zyrgin captive? How will you prove to them that you have me captive?”

She shrugged, drawing his eyes to the way her generous breasts moved under the thick brown material of her dress. Her body was made to please a warrior’s eyes. “I’ll think of a way.”

“You can always cut off one of my fingers,” he taunted. He’d seen her run from a spider, but then she’d come back and used a shovel to pick it up and release it outside. No matter how tough she tried to appear, he didn’t believe she was capable of harming either a person or an animal. A few times, she’d look at the stick in his shoulder and tears had come to her eyes.

She paled, became white, like the clouds over Earth. “Don’t think I won’t do it,” she said.

“How will you get to my finger?” He reached up and pushed his hand through the grid. “Here, cut it off.”

She shrieked and disappeared from his view. Baring his teeth at the spot where she’d been, he pulled back his hand. Having a captive was not as easy as it sounded. They required food and care and bathroom facilities. If he’d known it could be this entertaining, he would have gotten himself captured by her much sooner.

“Don’t do that again, or I’ll really chop it off,” she said, coming into sight again.

“I promise I will not,” he said, so that she’d come closer again. He liked looking at her. She wasn’t strong enough to chop off anything he stuck out of the grid and didn’t have the tools that would do the job, but he wisely kept that thought to himself.

“After you have my finger, you will still need to call the resistance. We monitor their TC transmissions, and they are frequently contacted by people who claim to have a—”

She laughed so hard she fell backward.

He sighed. “Why are you laughing human?”

“You said—you said you listen to the resistance TCs. That’s so funny. You don’t even know where the resistance are, so how can you listen to their TCs?”

“We do not need to know where they are to monitor their transmissions.” He didn’t understand this conversation.

She came into view again and frowned down at him, still swallowing laughter. Once she looked around, as if afraid someone would catch her laughing. “That’s impossible, they’d have to know where the resistance are and get close enough to hide to be able to listen to their conversations.”

Azagor had experienced many wondrous things, had seen different cultures during their conquest of the known universes. Never had he been left speechless by someone who didn’t even have rudimentary knowledge of how technology worked.

About the Author:

Ever since she can remember Marie Dry wanted to travel. She had had the privilege of living in Zambia, Morocco, and Spain and sees herself as a bit of a gypsy. Every few years she gets restless and has to be some place new.

She read romances since she was nine and was fairly young when she decided she would write the perfect story that had all the elements she looked for in a romance. In 1997 she decided to go all out with her writing and to get published. Being published by Black Opal Books is a dream come true for her.

There are several wonderful moments in her life that she would never trade for anything. One of them is meeting President Nelson Mandela and the second being published.
