New Hobby -Drones #L&SR’s #Wednesday’s Blog Challenge 1-22-20

Welcome to #L&SR’s #Wednesday’s Blog Challenge 1-22-2020 New Hobby I’m trying or would like to try! Drones!

This falls into the want to try category. Drones. Yep, years ago my hubby and I flew remote control helicopters. It say it was a blast, is an understatement. But eventually we lost my favorite in the blue sky and it crashed to the earth in a million pieces. We did repair it, but it sits on a shelf gathering dust because I’m afraid to fly it again. Anyway, I digress.

In researching drones, I decided to start with a mini and learn to fly it then graduate to the drones that can shoot 4K of video. My hubby is a photographer and that’s his ultimate goal. Me, I want to fly over places and enjoy the scenery.

My choice is a Mavic Mini then upgrade to the Mavic Air which files 2.4 miles with a maximum speed of 42.5 miles mph. It has forward and backward obstacles avoidance to help keep from crashing into things.   Gee I wonder if they have obstacle avoidance for humans? Now that would be something I could use. LOL  My ultimate dream machine, the Mavic Phantom quad. Yep it’s out of my price range right now.  It has a three-axis stabilized camera with a 20 megapixel sensor. It also has four-direction obstacle avoidance and six camera navigation system so it will avoid crashing into things as it flies up to 31 mph with a 4.3 mile range (unobstructed).  But it must be registered with the FAA.

I’m sure you’ve heard about the mysterious squadron of six to ten drones buzzing over the Midwest, great planes to include  Wyoming, Colorado and Nebraska at night. They fly between seven and ten at night in a grid link pattern. Funny thing’s no one has any answers as to who is flying these drones. The Federal Aviation Administration, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army  forces Command have been contacted and claim to have no information. Gee, imagine that.  One thing I do know, it’s not me. LOL

Alas, back to my writing cave where deadlines loom, so let’s see what other authors list as new hobby I”m trying or would like to try. L&SR

#L&SR’s #Wednesday’s Blog Challenge 1-15-20 Books I Can’t Wait To Read in 2020

Welcome to #L&SR’s #Wednesday’s Blog Challenge 1-15-20 Books I Can’t Wait to Read in 2020… Lets get started.,

In reviewing my choices, I decided to give JD Robb another try. My first book of her’s I hated. I was told my people that absolutely love her books, I’d picked one of her worst books in that series.  Figures.  So one more time I ‘ll try Golden in Death.

In the latest thriller by JD Robb, homicide detective Eve Dallas investigates a murder with a mysterious motive―and a terrifying weapon.  Release date Feb. 4, 2020.

Next up, Linda Howard’s After Sundown, release date of March 31, 2020.

Danger brings together two guarded hearts in a battle for survival in this irresistible story from New York Times best-selling authors Linda Howard and Linda Jones.

The Guardian by John Grisham. Again I loved all his novels until the last few years.  Seemed to me he was calling them in. Gray Mountain was a prime example. He spent the first six chapters rehashing what he said in the first chapter.  But I’m going to give him one more chance.

In the small Florida town of Seabrook, a young lawyer named Keith Russo was shot dead at his desk as he worked late one night. The killer left no clues. There were no witnesses, no one with a motive.

Alas, back to my writing cave where deadlines loom, so let’s see what other authors list as Books I Can’t Wait to read In 2020. L&SR

For several months a Scottish Highland Ghost has haunted Daylan, in his personal life, his professional life and at his forge. Yet, being a talented warlock, he is no closer to discovering what the ghost wants or why he chose Daylan. A trip to his estranged sister’s home in Colorado may have unforeseen consequences especially when family history leads him to a shocking discovery.

As his attraction blooms for Josie, a yoga instructor in his sister’s studio, he realizes there may be more to Josie than he can imagine. When an ancient rogue Fae Warrior set on revenge kidnaps her in an attempt to claim her as his own, a devastating curse comes to light.

Daylan’s world spirals out of control as he searches for Josie. Can he break the age old curse to save her and their future, or will she be lost to him forever?

Snippet:

She padded over to the window and opened it a crack. The fresh air on her skin was cool. It relieved the smothering feeling that came over her the minute Daylan left the room. Taking a cleansing breath, she braced her hands against the window frame and took another deep calming breath.

Moonlight flooded inside with a light breeze. There it was again, that pull. Something was drawing her outside. Warning bells went off inside her head. Don’t do it. Don’t do it. Despite her fear, the desire to go outside was overwhelming.

The security alarm started counting down and she quickly closed the window. Shit. No way out. Unless…There is was again, she had to get outside.

The powerful urge had her pickup her backpack, slip out the window, skitter cross the roof to the corner of the building and shimmy down. It was like she had no control over her own movements. Her brain screamed for control—to no avail then she was sprinting to her vehicle in the parking lot. Carefully she opened the door, climbed in, started the engine and slowly pulled out of the parking lot onto the street and floored it.

Suddenly a cold clammy hand closed around her throat. Nails dug into her neck. “Take a right here. Pull into the driveway and stop. Don’t turn around.”

Finally, self-preservation took over. Releasing the steering wheel, she clawed at the hand closing off her oxygen, and opened her mouth to scream. Nothing came out. Then everything when black.

My Goals for 2020 #L&SR’s #Wednesday’s Blog Challenge 1-08-20

Welcome to #L&SR’s #Wednesday’s Blog Challenge 1-8-20 My goals for 2020… Lets get started.,

As I ponder what the New Year will bring, I decided on a few  of My Goals for 2020. First and foremost I’m going to slow down, take time to notice what is changing around me. I seem to always be focused on what’s coming up several hours from the present or days or weeks ahead. Life is to short to live life in that fashion. You miss so much. I hope to, no let me rephrase  I will do the following:

Have more quiet, reflective walks with Mystic my dog. We have great conversations as we tour the neighborhood or hike in the mountains.  One sided sometimes, but  my dog is a great listener and doesn’t judge.

Spend more playtime with our Eclectus parrot, Taco.

Take time to appreciate and enjoy each day.

Keep the those with negative thoughts or words at bay.  Life’s to short.

While working towards my professional goals,  I’ll up my word count goal to 8,000 words written in a week this year.

I hope to have one or two more books contracted and published. Really, I”d like to go for three, but… I know that is pushing it. LOL

Make time to exercise and lose weight.

Read and review least 25 books – GoodReads Challenge.

Promo… a necessary thorn in my side. Find new places to advertise my book. I’ve already made arrangements to attend a craft show and book signing at Pagosa Springs, Colorado huge festival over the Fourth of July. It will be my first time there.

Set up my promo’s in advance for an entire week, leaving me more time for writing.

Attempt to get my sales to the new level. Not an easy feat.

Search out more reviews. Yep this is a tough one.

Take more time for family and friends, you don’t know how long they will be around. The future is not a given so make the most of your present.

Last but not least, My Goals for 2020 spend more time camping in our new fifth wheel for long weekends from Spring to Fall.  All the comforts of home on wheels! LOL

I best get back to my WIP, or one of my goals will be slipping away before 2020 even gets started! LOL  Alas, back to my writing cave where deadlines loom,

so let’s see what other authors list as their goals for 2020. L&SR

What are your New Year’s goals? If you don’t make any, why not? Do you just take life as it comes and hope for the best?
